What you are describing is likely the result of more than one issue, as simply having a network issue (see here, and note the version in the top corner and error message, and the custom story I made/copy pasted just for you: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AgbZw2yZ-HhmgRn7qdidMOfPXqZa ) will not stop you from playing our own stories OR custom stories. This was easily proven by just disabling the network adapter for this test. We bundle copies of the stories with the game download from Steam, so, they're definitely on your computer. You've probly got an anti-virus, anti-ransomware, or some bundled security software interfering with our ability to hit our server, AND write these pre-downloaded stories into where they need to go.
