"Do You Smell Blood?" Steam Achievement walkthrough

How's it going dudes?
This here is a detailed walkthrough to get one of the more obscure achievements in House Party. It's not that it's hard, it's just that there isn't a lot of indication in game for how to actually get this one to pop. I spent a lot of time finding ways to beat up Frank early, but it's actually a lot simpler that it seems.

This is a step by step guide, with a few extra steps if you want to do them, but I say when those happen. Also, there are a few conversation options that result in the same outcome, but these are the ones I selected and they work.

Following all the main steps will net you the achievement, guaranteed.

Okay, let's start with a little prep.

From the front door, head upstairs and grab...

- The camera from the mirror table in the Master Bedroom (or Madison's bedroom).
- The Laxatives from the shelf in the Master Bedroom closet (or Madison's closet).

Head down the upstairs corridor to the Study (the room Brittney is sitting in) and grab...

- The SD Card from the desk top, to the right of the laptop.

Head downstairs and into the garage, and grab...

- The Bathroom Skeleton Key next to the orange-ish tub on the second shelf of the left hand wall.
- The Cell Phone Jammer behind the blue shoebox(?) and orange tray full of nuts and bolts.

Now we have everything we need, go into your inventory and insert the SD card into the Camera.

Do another quick lap of the house and lock all three bathrooms, one on the ground floor in the small corridor you face down when beginning the game, another upstairs in the main corridor and a third in Madison's bedroom. I do all three just to be sure, though you probably only need to lock the downstairs bathroom.

I'm getting you to do all this first, because you need to eat up some time for Amy to stub her toe (which can sometimes happen really fast or take aaaaages)

When that happens, you'll see...

- "Ouch! Ugh, I stubbed my toe. How come it's always the worst freaking pain in the world? Hurts like the dickens."

You can hear this from anywhere in the house and outside, but when it happens, all you need to do is...

- *LISTEN*
- *LISTEN*
- *FINISH*
- *FINISH*

Now we get to start talking to people! Time to socialise!

Speaking to Stephanie, select...

- "So you like helping people huh?"
- "There's got to be more to it than that."
- "What do you do for work, Steph?"
- "And you're a cook, I take it?"
- "Ah. You're one of the waitresses."
- "I think that if you like doing it, then all the power to you."
- "Supportive?"
- "I take it you go to school with these folks. What are you studying?"
- "Have you ever considered a medical profession?"
- "See what I mean? You'd be a perfect fit!"
- "Hmmm, alright."

Speaking now to Amy, select...

- "Hey Amy. It's nice to meet you!"
- "Why doesn't Steph seem interested in anything but partying?"
- "Well, what if I were to show her what she's capable of?"
- "I mean..."
- "Right... only "IF"."
- "Talked about what?"

You're going to need to do a bit of running back and forth now between Katherine and Frank, so here we go...

Speaking now to Katherine, select...

- "I feel like we use the word "need" outside of its intended purpose."
- "I notice you keep looking at your phone. Is everything okay?"
- "Who would ever be a d!#% to you, ever?"
- "I could use a drink. Want me to grab you one?"
- "Cool, I'll see what I can do."

Speaking now to Frank, select...

- "I'm completely sober!"
- "So you're just gonna sit here and guard all the alcohol, huh?"
- "What do you think about Katherine?"
- "I'm gonna go drink some orange juice. See you later, Frank."

Back to Katherine, select...

- "Frank's guarding all of the alcohol."
- "I think Frank has a crush on you."
- "Always a pleasure, Katherine."

Back to Frank, select...

- "Hey I've been chatting it up with Katherine. Want me to put in a good word for you?"
- "Sounds like a deal. I'm in!"

Back to Katherine, select...

- "So Frank says I can grab some booze if I get a topless pic of you."
- "F&#% me. Okay, I'll see what I can do."

Rightio, with all that out of the way, go into your inventory and turn on the Cell Phone Jammer.

Katherine will say the cell phone service sucks, so just respond...

- "Yeah, I've got no bars either."

So now Katherine will wander into a variety of different rooms. Occasionally you'll get lucky and she'll go straight to the Garage, Master Bedroom or the Spare Bedroom, the easier locations to conduct our discreet photo shoot. Keep a short distance from her while she is walking, because if you get too close, you'll trigger another move before she even gets to her chosen spot. When you see her entering a desirable location, quickly go back into your inventory and turn off the Cell Phone Jammer. If you're quick enough on the next few steps, you can score your photo nice and fast before anyone else wanders in. If you're not so fast, consider grabbing the Mystery Key on the left of the shelf above the fireplace in the room Stephanie is dancing in and guide Katherine into the Master Bedroom. The key will allow you to lock the door and snap your photo/s uninterrupted.

Whichever room Katherine ends up in, make sure it's empty, shut the door and select...

- "So how about taking that topless pic for me now?"
- "Hot damn!"

Talk to her again and select...

- "How about taking your top off?"

Talk again and ask...

- "I don't think this is what Frank meant when he said "Topless"."
- "F#$% yes!"

Frank is not picky, so using the Camera in your inventory, you can grab a shot even when Katherine is covering her lovelies with her hands. If you want, or have time, you can select...

- "Let's try a pose"

Then if you haven't already, use the Camera to snap a better photo.

Either way, once you've got the photo, you can bail out of the room straight away without saying anything, or select...

- "Let's take a break for now."

There really isn't a difference as Katherine will default back to wearing clothes if someone walks in on her, making her ready for the next step. Or you can be a gentleman. Up to you.

Now we head to Frank, select him, and give him the camera. You only option will be...

- "Fair enough."

Now we have our free pass at some booze! Score!
Make sure you grab the Rum on the bottom shelf. There are two bottles, one on the left called Whack Spaniels (NO!) and one on the right called Granadi (YES!)

Now, wander into a private room, or at least any room that Katherine is not in and go into your inventory to add the Laxatives to the Rum, which will result in Tampered Rum. I did this right in front of Frank and he didn't respond, so I think Katherine is the only one who cares. If she sees you, she will call Frank to come kick your @$$.

With the Tampered Rum ready to go, find Katherine, who will be on her phone in the room you left her in, go into your inventory and give her the bottle. Your only option will be...

- "Enjoy!"

You don't need to say anything else to Katherine, but you do need to leave her alone. I think the game just wants you in a different room, but it's easiest to just go chill outside for a bit until you hear Katherine exclaim that she is not feeling so well. I usually just hang out next to the spa and watch the door for a bit. It'll take a bit, but when you get the option, select...

- (too far to respond)

You'll see Katherine run outside and go hide in the bushes.

This is your signal to head back into the house and find a good spot to watch the first floor bathroom door. I usually park it next to the blue couch, looking into the Kitchen. In a short while you'll hear Katherine shout to clear the way and she'll come running back into the house. You only options will be...

- *This is gonna get ugly*
- *LISTEN*

Now, prepare yourself for one of the funniest parts in this game by selecting...

- "Go dude, go!"
- *CONTINUE*

And there you go! Frank has just given himself a concussion, Katherine is losing her $#!& in the bathroom and the holy cabinet of drinks is entirely unguarded. You can immediately grab the Thermos for Rachael, as well as the Whack Spaniels, the Cabernet and even the Empty Vodka Bottle. Frank will even have some fun responses to a few of them. He even has some fun dialogue for a while after. It doesn't matter how you answer him, he won't get violent.

Once you've cleaned out the cabinet, the achievement will pop!
Congratulations!

For anyone wanting to play on from this point, you can continue Stephanie's story and get her to help Katherine, but there are guides for that elsewhere.
I've also waited a bit and it seems Frank does snap out of his stupor after a couple of minutes but you can speed that up by advancing in Amy's Scavenger Hunt to the part where she needs a condom. This will reset Frank and allow you to continue, but doing anything drink related near him will get you a beatdown just like always.

If you have Katherine fix the microwave and then go upstairs to the master bedroom she will follow when she is done to tell you and then stay in the master bedroom. Saves you using the cell phone jammer and following her around the house.

This is true, and a good alternative if Katherine decides to wander into an awkward room, though the conversation options can be blitzed through pretty quickly as opposed to waiting for the microwave to be fixed. I supposed you could get the conversation rolling and then go collect everything while you wait for her and Amy. She always went into good rooms for me though, so maybe I got lucky.
