HELP. CANNOT PLAY THE GAME

Hi. So after a long time of not playing the game i decided to revisit the game for fun. Now i cannot load my games
(folder is empty) or start a new game (dark New Game key, nothing happens when i click). I cannot select stories either. I have tried reinstalling the game. When it tried to install it could not and told me something about a locked game file. Then i forced uninstalled it and installed it again, and i could open the game. But i still cannot play the game, load it or select stories. Help!

they updated the graphics in order to play so might be a graphics card issue

Hi i have checked everything. My graphics card is running properly and i have a GTX 1060 6GB, so that is not the problem.
I found out that if i wait long enough until the "loading stories" thing has come up with the message "could not download updates, check your firewall or network" i can play the game.

(My network is fine and the game has access through windows firewall and my antivirus system)

Maybe the problem is that i do not have the newest update? But the game still wont download it. I have tried reinstalling it, to get the latest update. I can play the game now, but i have to wait 10 minutes before it will give me the error message, allowing me to proceed(I got a NVME ssd, so it is not the ssd fault it is taking so long). This is still a problem since I am not running the new update.

This is likely very relevant. If you're unable to even click on the UI buttons immediately in order to play, the game is probably having trouble reading story files.

Try reverting the game to 0.12.4 in the Steam Library by right clicking HP, clicking properties, then Betas, then select 0.12.4 and then close that window. Let the game "update", then try playing 0.12.4. If that works, exit, and use the same steps above but select NONE/No beta, and then try playing 0.13.3 once it updates again.
