Custom stories won’t show up in the menu
So I went to install a custom story, put it into the Mods folder with the original stories but the custom story doesn’t show up in the menu. What am I doing wrong?

It must be unziped and placed here Documents\Eek\House Party\Mods\Stories

I did that. One of them showed up one time then disappeared again and I did not move it.

I tried everything, nothing works. I even tried an older version but got the same result.

Provide a screenshot please. Elementus is correct. Additionally, the folders AND files cannot be compressed, encrypted, etc. You must also have anti-virus, anti-ransomware, etc. exceptions for all folders and files in the Documents\Eek directory. Your folders should look roughly like this:

From what I think I see; you should rename the top folder to just HotStory. It has to match the story file exactly ( without the .story )

That seemed to do the trick.

Funny thing... at first, no one was in the house, then the story disappeared, now the story is back with the characters in the house.

I don't get it.

When we look for custom stories as the title screen/scene is loading, part of the validation process is ensuring that folder names match the .story file name. So, kj5ix was correct above. Glad you got it working :)
