This is a known issue if you are not being allowed to read/write to the Documents\Eek folder on your computer. Improper user permissions can keep you from being able to modify/add files to the folder, or an anti-virus suite can prevent that folder from being modified or the HouseParty.exe process from being able to touch the folder in any way.

The camera item actually saves pictures from the game to your PC so that's why the above can cause problems. Also see my sticky in the Bug Reports section about troubleshooting misc. errors; I go over similar things in that post.

Hi,

I have checked through your guide in the bugs section. I have checked all my permissions, the folder has read/write access. There doesnt appear to be any conflicts with firewall or antivirus - I turned them off to check too. I am the only user/admin on my computer so its not an admin error.

I am running windows 10, everything else in the game works, but when I try to take a picture the camera is completely unresponsive, I left click and it puts the camera away. The second time I try the camera stays on screen but no pictures are taken. I check the camera description in game and it says no SD card is inserted - it definitely is.

I cannot find any other way to fix this issue. Of note, I am sure there is supposed to be a 'view pictures' option when clicking the camera from the inventory - this option is not there.

Any advice appreciated, although I'm guessing this will be one of the bugs to be fixed?

The 'view pictures' option won't show up until you actually have pictures to view. If you can't take any pictures, you can't view them. Just for the heck of it, create a folder in your photos folder corresponding to whatever save you're currently playing, and then stick a picture in it. The picture must be png format, and 2048x1536 pixels in size. See if your camera will let you view it.

Oops, forgot to mention, the picture name must be a number. Probably the best would be to just name it 1.

Further clarification, the photos folder in the Eek/House Party folder in your computer's Documents location.

Same I hope this bug will be fixed, my virus software isn't blocking it. I used to be able to Katherine's mission but now I can't.

I'll just respond to this post. Thank you, this is all good info. And thanks for actually reading and following my troubleshooting steps *single tear forms*

We will look into it! Some parts of the camera functionality were contracted out when our lead dev was working on the game completely solo so with the larger team now we can put together a tailored approach that works better for us (read as: you).

Oh also, can you check my pinned post here re: the logs and take a look through those? Since you're so enterprising, to make sure we get relevant log content:

1a) Make sure there is a readable photo file in the Photos directory as you described in one of your steps above
1b) Start a New Game
2) Give yourself the camera item via console: 'player inventory camera'
3) Immediately start taking a few pictures as you "normally" (supposed to?) would
4) Try opening and closing the camera interface without taking pics by using the ESC key
5) Try Viewing Photos in the inventory with the camera item

This is all just to populate logs and I think we have a good idea of your visual/experiential observations, but any further feedback is welcome. You can post relevant log content here or with a pastebin/imgur/whatever link.

Thanks for the replies.

I have followed your steps, I have the png image sized at 2048 x 1536 pixels, it is saved as the number '1.png' in my houseparty photos folder.

The camera does not allow me to 'view' any pictures, it does not take any pictures, the above steps have not helped me to work around the bug I'm sad to say.

I'm not sure though how to populate/generate the log for you? Is it saved to some folder?

There's a log guide in the bug forum that will assist in grabbing the logs needed. As for the debug log, a screenshot of the events in a given time window will do. Thanks!

Hey, out of curiosity, have you tried running the game in Windowed mode (not fullscreen), and at different resolutions? Thanks.
farmonator Oct 16, 2017 @ 5:44pm
I will try windowed mode and get back to you :)
