In terms of keeping dialogue options open to you, bear in mind that most characters "lose" their intro dialogue if you engage with them initially via nudity or sexual acts.
Also re: Stephanie, she will not mention her problem until you're right at the cusp of a specific quest and have spoken to Derek, then Frank.
No, no text and no voiceover. Derek just pauses a second and then acts like I said nothing, and the option to ask again doesnt show up. I will look further into the Stephanie thing, I didn't look too deep into a walkthrough because usually I'd rather figure it out myself. :) Hm, I dont think I did vodka as THE first thing, but it was pretty early on a couple replays...I'll give it another try and see what happens.
