<Banned from existence, my name's Indus.
Anyways 8 years? Time for a new quake, they got some new Doom coming out right?
Quake1 sequel for the next Quake. RPG/monsters. RPG is basically monsters, basically you going through a story beat the end boss. Thats what RPG is. Quake1 didn't really say much until end of each episode with wall of text. Yet meant more and more impact than like GBs of voice acting or whatever.
Anyways with new zone, dark spots, hiding spots. Wouldn't work if the players are too visible always visible. It takes out part of the game takes out part of Quake the original where you could run into a dark spot and literally hide, someone has to make light or get in your face or really focus on that dark spot to see you.
With Quake Champions, it is, more of a character issue, they got to dim the character down, shouldn't be outlines or any of that too.
Also, the way they make these maps, its literally a circle.
Not like Quake1 where you have dead ends, where you have legit camping spots.
ex. E1M1. Rocket Launcher, you can camp that area, there is only 1 way in.
DM6 Dark Zone? You can camp that RL by the mega. The RL by red armor is doable but very tough because lots of traffic.
Quake Champion maps have so many entry points to spots its like not campable.
Quake founded camping in my mind, and thats another Quake doesn't do anymore, lost its identity.
Secret areas you see those anymore? Thats a quake thing.
Exactly lots of things not Quake like yet not in these new Quakes.
The Strongbox, plenty of hiding spots, Quake Champions hardly or next to none hiding spots. So you really can't have a good CTF. Although people do try and push as in the only CTF map they'll stand on the pillars or stand on something where you gotta look up.
There needs to be more things like that. More where its a tight space hiding spot too. One way in type hiding spot.
Keeping what they have built and continuing to build upon it, lets say even if its only the metrics and maths the core of the game is there, like chess, checkers battleships and poker. If they felt the need to use new tech and reflesh out what we have now, the very core has been finalised.
A second horizontal line of champions is where the mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game Quigga... needs to be at, it deserves it. Modes and ideas that QC's current engine cannot support, are a reason to have to move the community and for the vitality of the IP itself into the future.
I could come up with stuff beyond mystery ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ champion being held back by whatever contracts, engine and limitations were signed into whatever ruling law held over that project.
On the real, it was outsourced, all the hard work was done at id, go optimise and do this list of tasks... simple right? but that Zombie game happened didn't it. Must of been an ongoing renewable yearly contract of service or something. Add that abrupt issue to a small player count, as by design QC couldn't capture the gaming industries audience at large, cross platform and by trends, operating limitedly as is.
Solo DLC campaigns? Such a loss and so sad; but I don't believe id stopped working on QC, at all. I think "bless this mess" and we'll see what they do.
What is this Quake not being number 1 any more!?
What is this time line!?
hehe
another classic syncerror child tantrum
this is the kind of person that is currently in charge of the entire quake franchise...
I don't agree here, he is doing and has done what he can, over time; granted.
The game is in a remarkably stable place right now as to frames and other measurements.
Maps at times feel misguided, but to anyone losing what do you expect.
The lack of backing is due to the player count and design of QC, that id will address next time.
Cursed Soul has grown on me, as did many maps for others, it is taste and preference.
I'm ready for Hunter though...
I enjoyed the verticality of Quake Maps like how Black Cathedral is wide open or any of the space maps that you could double boost with a rocket and nade combo to fly off into deep space. Those tricks were fun.
Quake Champions maps feel like they box you in.
Like adding the portculus to Campgrounds and renaming it Blood Covenant.
How am I supposed to zip around on rl boost angels with that thing in the way?
Forces me to use the lesser boosting nailgun aka plasma.
Every other game is already a corridor camp n shoot.
Well whatever I am just happy to find time to play... hehe
No wonder all the best maps are the ones NOT made by him.
This game is literally a game you can't camp
The maps are terrible for CTF hence why CTF did not blow up unlike in the previous Quakes.
Verticality of Quake? There is already enough of that.
What this game is missing is environment, secret areas.
Ex. going through lava going underneath lava going through a secret tunnel, there is a mega waiting for you or a quad waiting for you.
Also the backpacks this game removes the backpacks of previous Quakes, because you get pretty unlimited ammo in this Quake.
Previous Quakes ammo was pretty big and usually the secret areas had ammo room too not just just super good powerups, ammo was pretty big thing to consider in the older quakes.
Hence the backpacks were a really big deal in the older quakes, because it provided all the ammo someone had and sometimes you get lucky.
It just seems to be this game, Quake series, forgot its roots and just focusing on #esports.
