Curious to know if you guys would want currently unobtainable skins (Ranger's Gladiator skin, Nyx's Ruby skin, Scalebearer's Oni skin) to be purchasable again given the notable time passed since they were added. lotta games seem to be leaning into it as of late and I'm just looking for input from other communities

Yes, I'd like the ones I couldn't get (Ruby and Oni). But they were pretty clearly limited exclusives and I'm not sure I think they should be released again. If they were though, they could charge me plenty of platinum (esp for Nyx :steamhappy:)

edit: I'd also like some way to get the QuakeCon weapon skins (LG and 1 other I think) I missed because I was on holiday during those QuakeCon weeks. Again, I'm kind of ok with them remaining exclusive.

Ruby is the only one that's not obtainable at all. The other two still work, if you can get a code (the pack with the Scalebearer statue contains both).
While Ruby won't activate even if you manage to get a code somehow.

If you can find a copy of the Scalebearer edition floating around, you can still get the Gladiator and Oni sets, in theory. The only one you absolutely can't get anymore is Ruby Nyx. It seems like AMD doesn't want anything to do with this game and selling something with their logo on it would likely lead to a lawsuit.

There was also the NVIDIA railgun skin a few years ago that had a limited run, but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the glass shader on it so it's pretty ugly IMHO.

might just be me, but I don't see the amd logo anywhere on the outfit. even then, removing the correlation would probably not be too hard an undertaking, right?

edit: saw the belt buckle. still doesn't seem like it'd be a hassle to remove though.

I purchased a sealed Scalebearer edition of Quake Champions last year and it comes with two redeemable codes, but the Scalebearer Oni code is the only one that would redeem.

The Ranger Gladiator skin (which I really wanted) is obtainable by the second code which is also tied to the early access version of the game, and includes the Champions Pack and some loot boxes. Because of this, I don't think that code works anymore, since the game has been out of early access since 2022 and that may have screwed the code up (that's my best guess anyway). It might have still worked before that date but sadly, I think the Ranger skin code has expired.

That's sad. Does it explicitly say it's a Steam code? If it doesn't it may be worth trying it on Bethesda too.

Will we get all skins unlocked when QC goes to custom servers service?

I don't think they'd be able to release ones that are tied to other companies like AMD and Nvidia (without those companies permission). And I remain to be convinced that QC will be distributed to play any other way than it is today. We'll see though.
Btw: if anyone wanted to get the gold bundle, it's gone since the beginning of December.

Not as long as the game is a GaaS.

Yeah, I tried them on the Bethesda website first, that's where it says to redeem the codes. Oh well, I'm still happy to actually own a physical copy of the game! I would of been playing years ago had I been gaming at that time. Better late than never though.

And to answer OP's question, yes, I would love to see that happen one day for the items in question.
The inventory system is flawed from the begining.
It should have been Steam inventory, which can be traded on Steam market. Solves many things. Limited time items can be bought, or sold for a lot of money. Both parties win.

Two things:
  • AFAIK they never wanted trading in this game, and they certainly don't want now
  • This game wasn't originally on Steam.
There was a recent discussion about it:

It creates a lot of real world problems.
scams, account selling, item selling, money laundering
friends trading your crap away when you're not looking
customer support costs skyrocket fixing trade issues

Meh, it's not unfeasible to get everything without spending a dime anyways. I definitely wasn't ever expecting items to be tradeable when they already give away premium currency for free, something most games with gacha/lootbox mechanics don't do.

Having Steam backgrounds would be nice, especially when they can be made available solely through Steam points nowadays.
