I have all of that on the PC including CE, ahk, MSI Afterburner (with HWiNFO64 combined) and don't have any issue with the anti cheat system. As long as you don't run CE alongside with the game you should be fine, no need to uninstall anything.

do you have them installed on a different drive? because theyre not running in the background and the compatibility checker still says i have to uninstall them.. :steamsad:

Quake with steam on separate ssd, OS with MSI Afterburner and other software on a separate system ssd. Check the memory, make a clean boot and ensure to close everything OS non related and test.

If it is a program you start and quit at will, it should be enough that it's not running when you're playing QC. Only programs you can't easily quit can be problematic, like the interception driver (but that's frowned upon by most PvP shooters anyway), or I remember when someone claimed that Process Explorer can be installed as an always-running system component. Which I didn't fully believe, to be honest.
it forces me to uninstall cheat engine, autohotkey and msi afterburner.
none of them we're either open or running in the background.
interception driver is not installed
Maybe your having cheat engine installed makes the anti-cheat react?

When you say "it forces me", you mean Windows, not QC, right? Write to MS.
afterburner isn't a problem. The other two are. Both of which are used for things you shouldnt be doing when playing online games.
dont worry about it its not crashing the cheaters game thats the main thing!!

Making my point? Uninstall your cheating software and the anti-cheat will relax.
it's just installed, not running. i'm not uninstalling sometiing i need just because i want to play a game.
if theres a workaround for this, i'm happy to hear it, but uninstalling is not gonna happen

i understand that you can do awful sht with it in online games, but i use ahk for custom macros in music production and cheat engine to read out RAM values in n64 games

Entirely 100% besides the point. The problem is they can be used for those things, as they are. That you have good intentions doesn't matter to detections otherwise.

Thank you for this post, I was considering to try them on the weekend (I have Afterburner, but not the other two), but this way there's no need.

The compatibility checker is a 3rd-party tool, and also it's very old. It works with a short list of things it explicitly checks for and it may look into the registry or even at default installation locations. Detection mechanism of the anticheat is rather different, it doesn't work from a list, it checks the processes that attach themselves to the game (something what CE or even just a debugger would do), source of input events (AHK produces software-originated input events, and so do aimbots or triggerbots for example), and there may be some more, like to my understanding anything Python running in the background is a no, because there was/is a wave of OpenCV-based cheats.
It can very well happen that it gets triggered by something else than a non-running CE or AHK. If you're stuck, try contacting SyncError on https://discord.gg/quake, he will have you produce a crash log (or just tell you where you can find it already), and look into it.
thanks, might try it tomorrow
