game crashes on launch

a few months ago i could still play the game with no issues but now every time i try to launch it, it immediately crashes.
Nothing has changed with my hardware since i last played and i verified the game files.
I googled my issue and people said that msi afterburner can cause this. But others say that they can play with it installed and running as long as they have no overlays on which i don't have enabled either. I also always had afterburner installed and I didn't update it recently and I never had issues with quake champions crashing or not launching before.
Can you guys still play with afterburner installed? Does anyone know a fix for this?
Uninstalling afterburner is not an option for me because my graphics card overheats without the settings from afterburner.
Am I just out of luck and I cannot play this game anymore?

Set your riva tuner detection level to low.

i did set rtss detection to low and then even uninstalled it but it did not fix the crashes.

Before i never used rtss and QC ran fine with afterburner. A couple weeks ago i updated rtss and started using it and now i uninstalled it again but QC still keeps crashing on launch. Did i brick my PC by doing this? 💀

Also MSI Afterburner works fine for me.

Now it runs again. I did all things in the trouble shoot guide and the last thing that i did, updating my graphics drivers, made the QC run again even with afterburner.

I have the latest drivers, my PC is pretty much good, re-checked file integrity, still not able to run the game AT ALL. It crashes right at launch, no error messages even.

QC's anticheat is pretty restrictive, read this guide and run compatibility test tool

same hear. nothing changesd on my PC can't launch.... well maybe they have finally founf the guts to kill this abomination? XD

update: on 6th try in launched. but for a week or so stil lcan't open Steam overlay

This version of Quake acts so strange idk bud I had to stop playing a few weeks and its working again

I am having the same issue and tried all the troubleshooting recommendations I have found and it still wont launch. Been having the issue just before the last update and then the update didn't fix it. Wanted to test out my Wooting 60he with it and I wont be able to I guess or even play i again because I am not going to do a whole windows refresh just for a game that will probably just do the same thing again.

buy a computer only for Quake and lock the firewalls down ( the type that your little brother can't just bring up windows uninstaller)

i play the game for about 2 mins then it shuts down kicking out to my desktop
