Is this game still dead?

I used to play during the beta and had fun, but overtime the matches took longer and longer to queue up for so I stopped playing. If I have to wait 10 minutes-an hour for a single match of CTF there's no point in reinstalling.

Nowadays I play CTF almost exclusively and don't have problems with finding matches. But, I can speak only for myself, playing from Europe, in the evening (at times between 18:00 and 22:00 CET), having 30-ish ping to all 3 EU servers, 110-ish to NA East, and 140-ish to NA Central.

This game is even more dead now. Oh and it also runs worse despite being now a 5 year old game.

I'm sad they took 1/3 of Athena's hooking away, and didn't bring her up to normal armor,,, but still fun to play.

It's a damn shame, though i havent played in a while now but... People are missing out so much ignoring AFPS, miss 1999-2004 pickups on mIRC quakenet.

There is no community building in QC
All the devs are interested is for you to play for the minimum time possible and then get booted back to the menu so you can spend your time looking at the ingame store.

Having people stay in the server, chatting and socializing is a big no no for modern gaming

This game is dead forever, since the russian devteam left the project, so just stop wasting your time for naive expectations.

It's not totally dead, not a great game either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it thinking it was me, each time I went back, same disappointments, game play, weapons, characters, maps. The FOV oddly has too much depth on default setting and cannot be adjusted too well. Truth is there ain't much to choose from in this genre, anyone that makes an attempt often gets "rebuffed" and people don't gravitate to these games anymore. I've looked over a few more recent titles and they all die out (not because they are necessarily bad either) but due to genre. The oldies are still the best (original games). I couldn't get into Champions from the start and it's not me, pretty terrible effort to bring back the game.

QC does a better job at burrying the genre rather than revitalizing it

Its just like Quake 3. Once you start getting the same hacker showing up, people leave.
