Strafe Jump, moment of the jump
Hello

When is the right time to jump when strafe jumping ?

I was pressing slightly after landing but some press just before landing and others when landing

What is the best way to do it ?

Just press and hold the spacebar, it jumps automatically for you.
Traditionally, in IDTech games you have to press the space bar right when you hit the ground, in Quake 3 and 4 they enlarged the window you have to press space again after landing and made the effect of moving your mouse mid air more effective for people less skilled to be able to bunny hop more consistently and for pro players to be even more impressive to watch playing and in Live and Champions they made it so holding space make you perform frame perfect jump so new players can understand it and nail faster while giving more decent players better control over their speed and direction, because if you dellay your next jump a bit, you can redirect yourself at the cost of some momentum. Unless you play Sorlag or Anarki who just gain perfect air controll from crouching (making their rocket jumps give them some incredible speeds).

PS: Anarki and Sorlag actually use an other technique, if you try to move with them like you do with others, you are not using them to their full potential, same for Slash, if she chains her crouch slides she can build some insane speeds in a shorter amount of time.

Sorlag and Anarki bunny hop like in the older Quake games and the Valve games, you press only left or right and swipe your mouse smoothly while in the air to gain speed and you direct yourself while in the air rather than while on the ground, if you crouch and hold only forward, you can you a 180 without loosing any speed if your mouse swipe is smouth enougth, and if you crouch and press forward and then keep holding crouch and press left or right, you will carry your momentum and will be able to look anywhere around you while going in the direction you where when you switched from pressing forward to left or right, you then aim straight behind you to hit a rocket that propels you more horizontally than vertically to accelerate even more, you the look forward again and release crouch and start doing the bunny hoping, you can chaine the rockets if you have enougth health and a long enougth straigt line.

PS: I forgot about clutch who plays like Unreal Tournament, hold forward to progressivelly go faster or jump then immediatly double tap a direction to launch yourelf horizontally midair and reduce you vertical velocity.

Any video that demonstrates this part?

Not in my knowledge but I could try practice a bit and put something together.

Frothy does some good tutorials, I'm pretty sure he covers Sorlag and Anarki in one.

Is that the one you were talking about?

I watched the whole thing and there are no mentions of what Hyenubis described in his post.

I watched all his videos, I'd say that I think that they are very good for someone who gets started, he take time to go indepth, step by step, I'm pretty sure his doing it with enougth stages to be able to teach it to a Fortnite kid, I'll keep his name in mind for my next friend I convert to the game, will save me the struggle of drawing vectors on paper and talking about natation. But nope, he's not showing the crouch to the side to lock air controll thingy. Guess I have to be the one to do it then, should be there around, tomorow morning I'd say, it's 20H10 for me right now.

Please do this!

I am an Anarki/Sorlag player, so that'd be very interesting for me to see. Never heared about it before (or maybe I simply didn't pay much attention).

Don't hold the jump button it's always better to time your jumps. One of the ways is to bind jump to a right mouse click. It will make timing easier, and your rocket jumps will be more consistent. After a while strafe jumping will become second nature, and you will stop thinking about it. Just practice.
