Also, you're wrong. Given the conditions of the imposed business model from one of the worst major publishers in all of gaming and the reddit losers' campaign to convince people to just join the anger and never give the project a dime - development is going swell. In the past year, I got an average 10 FPS improvement without upgrading specs, and there's been tons of QoL additions, maps, balance changes and fixes. Not just cosmetics.
Savage ! I had to clean my secondary monitor. :)))))) This is what I get for drinking beer in front of the computer.
Edit: Also, I would presume that his experience from Hentai Girl Linda doesn't carry over to Quake that well, since he probably only uses one hand to play that...
A playerbase of 600-800 people is not much. Give the game one more little gamebreaking bug or something and this whole "trilogy" is wiped out. No new players want to play this game because the learning curve is way to steep, even with the new "champions". Impossible to play on a low to mid PC. I BOUGHT this game some time ago, then it just went f2p and what did I got, for buying it? Nothing and its pathetic.
Just take a look at CS. This game is probably as old as Quake is. And look how they flipped the coin. Or take a look at tf2. Another great game, currently untouched by valve, but still 1000x times more alive than this game, even without any major updates.
I play quake for gameplay, not for hype. And I can always find live public players even if this dead. If you want make career in streaimg or cybersport, yes - qc is bad choice. But if you want just make fun after job then qc is even better that live.
Also Quake have unique gameplay which you cant find at another games. Just skill, just aim. No waiting, no virtual mechanic, just jump@shoot. If CS is Kempo where you wait 10 minutes to shoot just 2 seconds and die, then quake is boxing, where you have more window to play.
I always wonder about players which just stand and wait until daily task is complete. Serious? Quake is for gameplay, not for cosmetic.
Also CS is bad example. I dont like in what cs and tf become. I remember times when there was no cosmetic and it was much better. Just gameplay, no cancer about cosmetic marker and farm bots or virtual avatars. Just play. This video better say what I mean.

I think trouble is in community. At old times there was popular local servers. You join this server and you see same players every evening. Today all servers is public and there no warm atmosphere that was like in old days.
Otherwise the statistics site https://dev.quake-champions.com/ recorded ~10000 individual players in the 2nd week of January. People just don't understand what "average" means on steamcharts, which is more like a fetish anyway.
It seems like 90% of my games are DM now. I didn't care for DM too much, but if that's the quickest find for matches at the "time" I play now...can't complain. Though I can say it has really thrown off my instagib games.
My mouse pad is worn out also and my mouse sensitivity is off...hehehe
you know, the funny part about your argument is, that QC just tried to take note of games like csgo and tf2. Cosmetics, seasonpass, skincolors etc. They also tried to jump on this kind of train, with actually no sucess just to milk some more money out of it. Its not like Valve is now the "holy child", but risking something like that on such a small community is really risky and just shows how much Bethesda "cares" about its playerbase.
No action? Just skill, just aim? I get your point, but where should be no action in tf2? 24/7 action, if you want more 1vs1 play some mge, there you have almost the exact same. Same thing with CSGO. My point was, that both games grew up on the same time, and had their highs and lows, but nobody wants to learn a game, which has such a steep learning curve, its just hard to have sucess and fun.
Some people care about cosmetics, other doesnt. If youre not into cosmetics, dont buy them, just play the game, simple as that. It was never about the cosmetics. If it annoys you if people wear cosmetics, you shouldnt play QC too, colorful cosmetics, colors, etc. are in this game too! People still play tf2 because of its great gameplay, how all 9 classes just work together, nothing is really unbalanced or "gamebreaking".
I dont need to worry? So just waiting for 15-20 minutes to find a 2vs2 game should be fine? I dont think so. And the cherry on top is, that you, most of the time, que against the same people with higher ranks, because the game cant find a person in your skill-group. First, thats just frustraiting for new players, to get qued up against better people. I dont wanna know how long you can wait in different regions + higher skill levels.
I shouldnt worry about what pros think? That funny. I think the best way, to get information is by asking people who spend a lot of time in it, they have experience, know what they are talking about.
My apologies.
Artificial limitations. I said that cs is Kempo by world of games. Win of round is question of few moments. Thats why a lot of player like camping and wait. Is all about cs: wait, wait and wait to just shoot few seconds and die or kill. No medkit, shields at maps. Your kpd is your camping, you cant rush.
And tf2 is about classes. It designed for teamwork, not for solo.
Well No. When CS GO out - nobody play at it. It was dead game, because there was css at same engine with ideal netcode and a lot of patches and content.
But then Valve add cosmetic and market at cs go. And cancer let grow. It realy say a lot about players if game was dead and become live only after cosmetics and market was added.
Same about tf2. There was a lot of micro mechanics at game and you NEED talk to other players for coordination of attack or defense. After weapon updates game start look like field of headless chicken. Everybody start play solo and like he want, no teamwork need.
It not only my opinion. If I wrong there was not such mods like tf2 classic which delete all hats and weapons from game to return it at 2008.
Arena shooters are dead. There not a lot of choice. And cosmetics let potato pc needs upgrade because it require good ram and ssd.
Well no. Is all about farming and hype. A lot of people play for cosmetic to resell this. Market of cs go is 2 000 000 000$ value for example. A lot of players play at this like main job. And they make online. And its bad. CS GO dead because of cheaters and farmers. TF2 full of bots which vote to kick humans because they vote to kick them.
This farmers make online and other join game because of hype. People forget about fun. All think about their virtual avatars and progress of it. It call sublimation. It really kill online atmosphere.
