Speed testing
Bandwith is not such a big factor with gaming these days, but ping and jitter are the really big factors determining your connection stability.

What are the connections like in your area, are you getting good ping/jitter out of the gate?

Yea, this is a big part of the netcode to be sure, that and the prediction stuff that's being run, it's what gives capacity for QC advanced hitreg and positioning algorithm, and when this stuff isn't synced well, it leads to so many more problems than issues like ping or bandwith.

Having redundancy built into a connection is critical with today's modern gaming software, especially in the fps genre. Once my ♥♥♥♥ hits the wall, it's on Gigbit Fiber Optic Network, and that makes a HUGE difference, because it's hooked directly into the brains and nerve centers of Internet, not from the periphery.

Fiber optic cables transmit data at much higher speed than copper wires. This is because the speed of light is greater than the speed of electrons. Fiber optic cables have a much larger bandwidth of over 60 Tbps (6,000x faster) in comparison to 10 Gbps bandwidth of copper wires.

A copper wire connecting a few blocks, let alone a few miles is BAD (especially with shared bandwidth) and will screw with any modern gaming network connection. Constantly cutting the bit rates, and size of packets, networking protocols.

There is far more congestion between the 15 feet between my computer and it's "fiber node" than from there, to the outside world. That makes a HUGE difference in contrast to pings or latency numbers.
