Crash Issue Troubleshooting

Hey Quakers,

Last week we released our major Winter Celebration Update, which included a new Champion, a new map, Holiday vanity, and much more that many of you have been enjoying over the weekend. Unfortunately, we have been reading reports that a handful of players have been experiencing a crash-to-desktop issue when launching the game. While we're working to diagnose the root cause of this issue, here are some solutions users have found that you might want to try:

• Verify game integrity: Right-click on Quake Champions in your Steam Game Library, click Properties. Under "Local Files," click "Verify Integrity of Game Files." After doing so, it's recommended your restart your PC and try launching the game again.
  
• Install the latest Windows updates: Generally a good idea for overall PC performance and security, make sure you're running the latest Windows updates for your OS version. Windows 7 users in particular who were experiencing crashes resolved the issue by updating Windows.
  
• Update your video card drivers: Updating to the latest video card drivers may resolve the issue for some users.
  
• Turn off 3rd party recording/overlay programs: Some players have reported being able to launch after turning off programs like OBS, or Plays.tv. This also includes programs like WindowBlinds. You might want to experiment with disabling these programs and seeing if Quake Champions runs.
  
• Reset DNS settings: Open a command prompt and run the command ipconfig /flushdns. You may need to restart your PC afterwards.
  
• Turn off Steam shader pre-caching option: Open Steam settings, click on "Shader Pre-Caching," and uncheck "Enable Shader Pre-Caching." Use Windows Explorer to navigate to your Steam > Steamapps > Shadercache folder, delete the folder "611500."
  
• Turn off Steam overlay: Try turning off the Steam overlay and seeing if that resolves the issue.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, and please chime in if you find another solution that may help your fellow players. (And it may help our QA team narrow down the issue as well!) Guys, i got fix. The problem is with dns/internet connection. Try some changes on router or use other device for internet connection. For me hotspot with mobile internet on smartphone fix the problem.

well but its works well on bethesda launcher - i write ticket on http://help.bethesda.net/app/incident with screenshot from steam and w8 or resp

Guys, i got fix. The problem is with dns/internet connection. Try some changes on router or use other device for internet connection. For me hotspot with mobile internet on smartphone fix the problem.

well but its works well on bethesda launcher - i write ticket on http://help.bethesda.net/app/incident with screenshot from steam and w8 or resp

it works on steam for my and after that my old/normal internet connection works well so just one time run on other connection.

it works on steam for my and after that my old/normal internet connection works well so just one time run on other connection.

I try on mobile connection and its works but when i back on my home connection crash all time.

try change the name wifi/home connection, reconnect and run quake

so try delete all config files in appdata, and again do stuff with connection

C.R.A.S.H. its works only on bethesda...

i just got newly my qc and coulnt even play 1 game because of these crashes :D

-Started the Game exe file directly from gamefile /better result then direct from Steam the Game crashes after loading bar in the begining
-Started the Game exe with fast (alt+enter) to be Fullscreensize . = Result :The game has actually made 20 attempts to jump and I came to the main menu after starting a match comes the Crash again back to the Desktop.

-Deleted all files from the Appdata folder/ No Result.

I do not want to use the bethesda launcher in this case
Do you have any other options? (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻

try windows key + G and turn off game mode.
try google dns 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
try run as administrator from steam lib folder
try turn off any overlay / recording programs
try set in cofing "selectedDataCenters": "AWS-Eu-Frankfurt"

Still getting the black window to crash (Day 12 for me). I've tried several fixes in this thread to no avail, and I'm not going to take the time to reinstall Windows when it might not even fix it.

I like the "handful of people". Is there anyway of refund or fix out for the game? I'll let you keep the hours I've put into you game, thanks for the memories

Yesterday I was playing normal, today game crash after login to bethesda. Nothing changed in my computer!! HELP
