Have they added a classic mode yet?
It would be nice if the devs could at least give us the option, and let the players decide which mode they prefer.

they could but sadly i dont think the game's playerbase warrants a classic mode, everyone here is already busy complaining about queue times

The lack of a classic mode might be the reason for the dropping player population and resulting queue times, among other things.

Or maybe the crap excuse of ingame friends list, or absolutely crappy MM?

My point being: adapting to a new era of quake was one thing, even with a very open mind, but everything else was just too crappy to do so.

Btw.: you're right, some sort of classic mode might be fancy to try at least.

Every snowflake picks some x that they in particular happen to dislike about the game and then blame that x for the somewhat low player population, as if the world revolved around their problems.

No. Classic mode would destroy the game and all the fundamentals it is built around.

You can play custom Duel Mode and disable Ability there.
