Starting Weapons?
How do you select which weapon you spawn with? And I know they're all intentionally garbage, but which of them do you like the best: the machinegun, the single-barrel shotgun, or the nailgun?

Thanks for any assistance!

After the match intro screen, when it says "prepare to fight", you should see a message at the bottom that says "press [key] to change champion" or something like that. Press it, and it should show the champions along with the starting weapons. Just click the gun you want and respawn when prompted.

Cool. Thanks!

Any particular starter that you favor?

I like the shotgun myself. The closer someone is the more it hurts, you don't have to lead it like the nailgun, and don't have to keep it on target like the nailgun or machinegun since it does all its damage in one shot. If I'm trying to get to a more powerful weapon or get away from someone looking for a cheap spawn kill I can tag them with the shotty, turn my attention elsewhere for a moment, and tag them again after it reloads. Downside is you're vulnerable between reloads so don't miss.

H is the default key during warmup to select weapons. You can also respawn and select weapons, but you lose a point/kill for doing it that way... so don't do that and wait until you die. Press H during the respawn period.

Default shotgun is probably the best.
If you're good at staying on target machine gun.
If you're good at leading nailgun. I consider nailgun the worst but I still choose it from time to time for certain characters.

MG - Good at long range, otherwise a bit mediocre.

Shotgun - Versatile, powerful, arguably better than the pickup version in some ways. Can go toe to toe with many of the pickup guns. If you just need to kill ♥♥♥♥, here you go.

Nailgun - Good at close to medium range, good at helping you survive due to free area denial off spawn, and can be used to pull off map movement tricks, especially with Nyx. Probably the best but also the most skill demanding.

I'm not a DM player, but had no problem when the one patch made you vote. I got to mix it up a little bit, which was cool.

Single barrel shotgun all the way for me. I would get mad at myself when I picked up the double! You couldn't use the single anymore. Without a doubt, single barrel is a better gun as long as you hit them, hit them, hit them, hit them.

It's a good finish gun from medium distance.

I prefer the MG on bigger maps, for example on Burial Chamber it works a bit better than the shotgun does for me. It's good for quickly sniping people with low stacks.

I cant hit with the shotgun for some reason but the supershotgun i can land regular 140. But for starters i just run the machine gun. For the nailgun idk. Didnt use it that often

I just love the Nailgun! :) Was starting with the Shotgun, but for now I switched to Nailgun.
MG - pathetic damage but has infinite range so you can still use it to finish off fleeing enemies and defend yourself while backpaddling untill you find a better weapon.

Shotgun - powerful, accurate, can do 90 damage at close range, shorter reload than the double-barrel. THIS is your bread and butter. anyone who is half-decent will run this starting weapon 90% of the time.
the only downside is the tiny 10 shell count, but if you wasted them all without getting a kill and picking up a good weapon. then you deserve to die.
hell, its still useful after picking up a better weapon because you can always switch back to it to finish enemies off or fight at close range after the enemy got too close for your railgun or rocket launcher

Nail spitter - it's like the MG, except it does 1 more point of damage per shot. the tradeoff is that the projectile travels slowly, its easy to miss and and can't hit diddly squat in long range. GARBAGE.
never seen anyone run the starting nailgun

Hey, the starting nail is psychological warfare: people think you have the proper nailgun so they run away. :D

Using starter shotgun, never picking up that double barrel trash can.

Ahh, did not know you lost a frag for that since they changed the warmup method. Thanks!
