joke aside: there are 4 tiers of ranks going from bronze to diamond and every each rank packed with 5 levels plus ELITE ranks for those who reached 2100 SR
It's just how it is, though, I am actually grateful I ended up bronze in this game cause like I said, the skill difference in this game is way different and silver players are actually "good".
With help from others and looking actively for guides and how the game plays you could advance quite a bit faster, but organically just by playing and figuring out stuff yourself it takes quite a lot of time, even if you do everything you can to learn how to play still expect it to take 500+ hours to get good
bronze2 675-750
bronze3 750-825
bronze4 825-900
bronze5 900-975
and so on increasing by 75
higher divisions are:
silver 1-5
gold 1-5
platinum 1-5
elite - top 100 players
so u r @ bottom, u need to practice a lot, quake has high entry level :-)
Also duel is the mode that attracts the most hardcore players, so simply by being a duel player you are probably in the upper end of the quake community.
This is like starcraft.. where bronze is new/learning and silver+ is experienced players, you will often find former diamonds in gold division in starcraft. The biggest jump in skill is from bronze to silver... from complete novice to veteran.
This is not like CS or other ranked games, where the playerbase is mainly noob/casual, with a small elite group at the top.
think of Quake being distributed like this in terms of CS ranks....
Silver 1- MG = Bronze
MG2 - DMG = Silver
LE - LEM = Gold
SMFC = Diamond
Global = Elite
What other FPS have you played thats more complex then this? I think your lack of understanding makes you think you know more then you do, hence why your bronze.
The system works that it gives you games you should win and games you shouldnt win, So if you won 5/10 you beat people who are crippled at gaming probably and the 5 you lost were against below average players but actually have experience and comprehend the game in full.
Play 25 more games, if you can win 75% you will rise fast in SR and learn on the way, if you cant progress past 1200 you probably have far more to learn then you think,
Anyone capable in Quake even if they are not a dueler can easily get above 1500 SR - 1900 or so max.
