DOOM slayers berserk is broken.
Doom slayer has, and probably always will be my favourite class in this game, however lately he's just consistently p*ssed me off.

The main issue is that his ability, berserk, in its current state is completely useless.

Beserk features a sort of lock on that pulls you toward your victim allowing you to deliver a powerful punch that deals around 75 damage. Nice... in theory.

However in game this usually translates to the lock on not working half the time, when it does lock on it bugs out locking you in the air or flinging you behind a wall and the damage being so low that i've hit players 4 times with one beserk and still havent killed them on several occasions.

This makes the berserker medal less about skill, and more pure luck, with the only ways you could possibly get it being limited to:
A - A cluster of enemies all of which happen to be low hp (and your attack doesn't bug out)
B - You managed to get quad (and your attack doesn't bug out)

Compare this to Scalebearer with his bullrush... an attack that can best be described as "the instakill button" or ranger with his orb thing with can telefrag you granting yet another insta-kill. In fact, look at all of the other champions in the game... Galenas land mines. Nyx's phase shift. Anarkis injection. All of these are powerful, serve a function and most importantly they actually work.

Doom slayer by comparison has an ability that feels... worthless. I dont know how the developers managed to take something as awesome as Dooms berserk and make it useless but, here we are.

I think the way to fixing this is really just fix the issues with the lock on. A damage increase is give or take, i'd say maybe a slight buff would be ok but something like this is easily made completely overpowered (i may be mistaken, but i seem to remember last year berserk was incredibly powerful)

I wish the Berserk was a insta kill move 2bh like in DOOM 2016. With same style kill animations from 2016 Doom, which stops you from spamming it and leaves you open for that extra second for others for balance.

Honestly, I use Beserk for 2 things right now:
1) to get to locations on the map super early before others, and
2) to get out of a fight that I'm losing

The added bonus is that if, on my way towards an item/ location with Beserk activated, I run into an enemy, I can have a chance to deal some serious damage.
aggree. or use after railgun shoot enemy or instagibs maps.
what if the enemies Doom Slayer sees turned red the moment their hp drops below the kill treshold while the ability is ready? or would that be too overpowered in terms of spotting low hp players?.. Like make it more like a finisher move.

I noticed if you crouch before you strike it alters the timing so you dont lunge. Maybe I could say also acts like quick jab.

There were some matches wher I had the feeling that even the Dire Orb does not work :D
3 players in a close bunch. I teleport amongst them. They kill me and none of them die O_o
does doomguy get a damage reduction during berserk? I just bought him but I'm really not sure if he has one
You just dont get it! Only thing this ability is used for is DOOM 2016 soundtrack!
I always LMAO when I see Doom Slayer trying to hit me with a bersker running round the room like a headless chicken. 9/10 it's easy to land a rocket launcher on Doom and kill him.
Gotta like it when he randomly jump like a maniac toward the opponent instead of simply punching, missing your target and diving into the pit that seemed so far away but that you can't avoid because there's no air control after that.

berserk is just good for finishing combo - deal some damage, then execute it immediately after shot (so You will skip weapon reloading animation).

It is very good to escape fight at low-hp too (not as useful as Nyx phase but still useful).

I have no problem with fistin or jump punch lock-on here - or maybe I've just didn't met much enemies who can dodge it lol.

Throw out berserk, replace with either:

* BFG: Fire one BFG shot, ticking down any enemy in range by 6hp per second, or 150dmg if in area of impact

* Chainsaw: Much like the gauntlet, but 30dmg per hit, longer range than gauntlet

Idk, just an idea.

I wish they would just remove the auto lock and buff the **** out of the dmg.

This is... actually great! In its current state Rip and Tear is a damn joke. They only need to balance it by range and damage against duration, but I do want them to try. Make Doom Slayer great again!

Either that or the wrist sword they showed off in Doom Eternal demo...
