unbalanced game

the whole point of q3arena was balanced and fair play. this ♥♥♥♥ aint fair at all. and im not THAT bad, but fuuuu. skills need to be removed, and gun damage needs to be tweaked.

in OG game, two rail shots irregardless of armor or health, instant kill. and rockets against others would be one shot if i remember correctly, and if you shot the ground and jumped, it would push you into the air and only so a little damage because it wasn't a direct shot

They already have it in the game. Check the "disable abilities" option. Maybe few/no servers right now for that, but it's there. I'm sure that mode will become more popular when the game is done.

People keep saying the champions are unbalanced but never actually say why. Give some reasons why other than "muh Q3A!".

In most circumstances, the champion aspect doesn't change most of the gameplay at all. All champions have the same health so the only factors left in TTK are hitbox sizes and armor. The abilities themselves don't impact most match ups either but enable new playstyles. Very rarely in this game do you ever say "Wow, I wouldn't have died if it wasn't for X's ability!" because most of the time you died because they were simply better or were in a better situation than you.

If I wanted a hero shooter I would play a hero shooter that is polished and balanced (Overwatch and Paladins?). I saw quake was now free on E3 and I thought it would be a great place to test my mechanics but the game starts you off on the only hero in the game with no ability and you need to play hours to unlock ones that just stand a chance. I do fine but I shouldn't be dying only because this person has X ability or spawns with Y more hp than me. It turns into a game of luck which people don't want as you can see of how much of a faliure this game was for previous Quake players and new players not coming in at all untill the f2p changes. The game was completely dead before it went f2p with terrible reviews and it will remain that way unless anything is changed.

If you truly think champions and abilities actually matter here, you probably haven't played long enough to realize that they don't. In the end, it's your skill and brain that matters.

That last part makes me not want to even take your rant seriously anymore. A 15k player peak is far from dead; that places this game in the top 50 most populated games on Steam. Even before the free week promo, it still had over 1k peak players. That's pretty damn good for an arena shooter in 2018.

If abilities and hero selection doesn't matter I must just be bad then. I have been a bad aimer all along and never knew! 400 player average from a triple a studio isn't sucessful exactly why the game had to go f2p. It was streamed like to millions of people and only 15k people could play at the same time.... Even games like jurassic world evolution which cost $40 have 6x that currently lmao.

I'm getting defensive because those types of comments look fake. People love to say Overwatch is balanced when attacking other more skill based games that they don't understand, and then probably go off to ♥♥♥♥♥ about Overwatch having new broken ass heroes or broken reworks or having korean griefing hackers throw high level games.

The games don't play out the same way and the "hero shooter" comparison is garbage.

Yeah P2W is a great system to help this game grow and thrive! This game will stick around and not die out since you can pay for skill as you see all the other f2p fps games doing well :)
