Do you still get XP from custom games?

I got this in the Humble Monthly and I like it, but I suuuuuuuuuuck. I'd be totally cool with paying the £20 for the game if it doesn't penalise me for not wanting to get killed over and over.

there are no bots and xp only matters for a few free loot crates, so you might aswell play a few with a friend if you have any on QC then just get slaughtered in pub games for a few hundred games till you learn.

You can get XP from custom games, but things like challenges and achievements don't work in custom games.

Unfortunately, you also still get certain medals and credit for coming in first - a blemish on my otherwise entirely earned statistics. I had tried to start a few custom games, but nobody joined in. Now I have 4 1st place wins amongst other things.

Players can't join custom games via matchmaking, you have to invite them to your party before starting a custom game.

We do plan to have bots in the future!

Cooly, definitely don't feel bad if you are new to Quake and are just learning--you might start off getting fragged in matches, but as you play you'll start getting better. There are lots of resources our player community has put together, like tutorials on Youtube, that are really useful. You might also want to check out the community-run Quake Champions Academy discord here:

They have mentors who are willing to teach players. You should check it out! Above all, have fun--it's not always about winning in Quake, just having a blast fragging people and getting fragged.
