Possible performance gain - Deleting QC appdata folder
Hello Quakers!

We have been testing a possible boost to performance gained by manually deleting the Quake Champions appdata folder, which may benefit some users. In the tests we conducted, there were no negative side effects caused by deleting this folder, however you may need to reapply any changes you made to your in-game settings. Please keep in mind that this is not a guaranteed performance boost, but if you are experiencing performance-related issues, this might be worth a try!

  1. Navigate to "%appdata%\..\Local\id Software" (copy/paste into Windows Explorer)
  2. Delete the "Quake Champions" folder.
  3. Launch the game.

A new "Quake Champions" appdata folder will be created when you launch the game. If you experience any issues that were not present prior to removing this folder, please let us know. (And also let us know if this worked for you!)

*Please note that this is done at your own risk. If you do experience any issues, uninstalling/reinstalling the client should resolve it.

Hi i try this right now and on Riuns of Sarnath which i usually have between 85-110fps i get 110-130fps. Thumb UP
As expected my stuttering and lag wasnt related to rendering quality, I don't think. From what I can tell it's a cpu issue where the game is trying to render as many frames as possible, to the detriment of the other subsystems of the game, networking I quess in particular.

I tried enabling vsync in the game, and that made the game not stutter, but input lag and quake don't mix, and i swear it also made my hit detection not work. I guess people complaining about netcode had a point. (I was ignoring them up until now)

I set the quakechampions.exe process priority to high, and that seems to have fixed it more or less. 4609k @ 3.9 ghz, and a 1070. Game quality set to 'high'.
turns out you can cap the frames with a command line parameter as well,

--set /Config/CONFIG/maxFpsValue XXX

testing it now.

0 effect, all it does is resetting settings locally, and upon restarting game, binds are restored but not graphics. The game simply performs better with some graphic settings on automatically detected settings then manual for some systems. Frame capping just adds input lag with that variable byteframe, unfortunately. Still worth using it tho so as to not sit at 1k fps in menu for no reason. Which should have its own cap tbh, for menu etc.

Really wanted to share this too, since doing what Emperor suggested along with running this helps a TON, we're talking q3 smoothness here.

In Windows 10 you could open up task manager, go to details, and set Quake Champions priority to High. However, if you go back and check after you've done so, you'll see it's gone back to Normal.

To have it constantly set to High priority, open up notepad and paste this code:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:start
wmic process where name="QuakeChampions.exe" CALL setpriority "high priority"
goto start
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and save it as a .bat file.

Open it when running Quake, enter the Matrix and take the blue pill. You're welcome! Enjoy.

:D

Fake, QC runs at high priority by default.

That's not what is going on here, everyone that had significant issues who this really benefited, causing me to start recommending this weeks ago, had returned their settings to the ones they were used to using (normally all low) and maintainted the benefit. Several user with gtx1080's for example had sub 100 fps no matter the settings used until they'd wiped the stored settings, and have maintained over 100 no matter the IQ settings used since.

It does not, this would only start high priority from the use of Start /high quakechampions.exe, a powershell script such as the one above, or some 3rd party tool such as Prio or Process Lasso.

I crashed to desktop before the region select before i deleted this folder. After deleting it connects and then the game freezes and a crashreport gets sent. Any ideas ? Would like to play.

Did nothing for me.

So the CTD ISSUE was caused by RAZER SYNAPSE for anyone who has the same problem. Just disable RAZER SYNAPSE and it works.

This worked for me. Went from like 80-100 fps to 90-110.

Settings:
Everything to low, resolution scale 66%, 1080p.
Core i3 4130, Radeon HD 7700, 8GB RAM.

edit: after the rant below, I changed some settings in my nvidia driver that would otherwise not make sense, setting max pre-rendered frames to 2 and threaded optimization to On, as well as prefer maximum power. Tried the game again and now it was quake live smooth at medium-ish settings in 1080p, haven't tried the auto-detected ultra yet.

game instant crash back to desktop

It actually worked for me. When I finally managed to launch the game after this update (it kept crashing, but then the issue resolved all on its own), I was rather disappointed to see it running at like 50 fps (it was around 90 before). Tried this thing, and the game now runs mostly at over 100 fps without major drops. Not ideal, but it's a step forward.

Unfortunately the game still crashes to desktop after "connecting to bethesda", which appears after a non-interactive screen about selecting my region is displayed for a few seconds.
