Quake Champions Not Starting Up

If I launch from the Steam Library I'll get the "Preparing to launch Quake Champions" black box for a half a second then it dissapears without any further windows. This has been an issue for several days.

My attempted fixes so far;

I. Running the QuakeChampions.exe file as admin and i recieve: "The program can't start because bink2w64.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

II. And if I go to the Steam Library, right click Quake Champions and select Properties, then Local Files, then Browse Files, client, bin, pc, then run that Quake Champions startup file as admin I get: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application".

III. I have tried reinstalling the game and still have the same issues.

Those are the 3 ways I have heard people fixing these issues, until this gets fixed I guess I'll just be playing Quake III Arena... Thank you all in advance for your time.

its likely not the game install that is the problem and is likely that the first time install goofed and steam has already run its first time set up, its probably system prerequisite files need reinstalling

goto

steam/ steamapps/ common/ quake/ champions/ common redist,

probably x64 need reinstalling,

hope that gets it going.

I followed your go to instructions and in the _CommonRedist folder is a vcredist folder with a folder labled 2015 inside that which contains five files.

I apologize if I'm asking a dumb question here, but what is it exactly you want me to do from here? Sometimes I feel like I know a lot about computers and other times feel like I need my hand held. Definitly sounds like your onto something though.

EDIT: Tried running the files, repairing, uninstalling, then installing Microsoft Visual C++ but that didn't seem to fix it.

I am using a 64bit windows.

I downloaded the file and tried fitting it into different folders and starting the game, had as much success as fitting a square peg into a much smaller circular hole...

Also, found a bink2w64.dll file under quakechampions/client/bin/pc. Is the file in the _commonredist folder for you, where mine is located, or both?

bink file is in right folder, must have corrupted installation somehow, either validate through steam like 8888 says or reinstall.

All files succesfully validated.

Haven't had the game working since I got it a few days ago, had the same problem this whole time so I don't see why I'd have a pending ban. (says I have 3mins on the game)

I have tried reinstalling the game DCR. Also, it takes forever for games like this to download for me where I live, even though it's not a problem playing them, so I'd like to avoid reinstalling a 3rd time if possible.

I'll try doing a full shutdown.

Oh, interestingly slightly different error... "Program can't start because steam_api64.dll is missing from your computer..."

Well, I dont know if the steam_api64.dll got resolved but now its back to saying bink2w64.dll is missing... And to get these error messages I'm runnning the .exe file regularly and as administrator. I have tried running steam as an administrator as well and I try the steam library play button every round of attempts too.

I tried those links game3412 and they they say everythings good.

Also, in the same folder (pc) I found the bink2w64.dll (which I clearly see is still there) I found steam_api64.dll

I really apreciate everything bud, I'll keep this open and let y'all know how it goes. I posted this topic the same time I posted it on Bethesda (same first message) and I've only recieved one message saying to update Microsoft Visual C++ but its a holiday weekend so hopefully I'll get some more responses. Still open to sugguestions here.

*SOLUTION*

1:try to start ur game as administator
2: then instantly let steam crash
3:open the game several times if the game still closes itself--till u get one game that doesnt respond but also doesnt closes itself
4:get rid of all the other games except the one that doesnt respond
5:go to ur dock and open it a second time note: dont close the black window
6:wait-it'll start then ;)

try this just dont give up on this it took me 10 min. to start
after just keep game in dock

bp_fx, Thanks for the advice, I'll totally try this but I have a few questions first.

The only way I get any pop up besides an error message is if I try to run it by pressing the play button in the steam library and that's just a flash of the "Preparing to launch Quake Champions..." pop up. I have never actually gotten the Quake Champions launcher screen or gotten anything else to show up, is the launcher what you had when you where doing this?

By "let steam crash" did you mean steam itself or the popup or launcher..?

Also, did you mean doc as in document? I'm not familiar with dock, I feel like you'll tell me and I'll facepalm real hard though.

but the thing is, when I start the game and try to login to my Bethesda account, nothing shows up when I type into the fields and it says "Services aren't available, try again later". This has been happening consistently and idk what to do

Still having the same issues I started with. I got annoyed and figured maybe if I waited for an update the update would fix the issue.
