black screen on startup

Hello. I installed the game but when I start it I get a black screen. Tried to do -windowed but still does not boot and just closes the game. Any ideas?

I did that still does not work. It just exists after 1 second from starting

Same issue, black screen for about 5 seconds, then right back to desktop with no error.

Update gpu drivers from the manufacturer?
Temporarilly disable any 3rd party antivirus?

Might be completely off the mark, but assuming the game is not installed on the same HD as your OS you could try that.

I found a fix without having to run it as admin I went to the file location in "common\quakechampions\client\bin\pc" and i checked the option "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" and boom it worked

I just had the same issue right now and tried couple of found solutions (reinstalling the game, launching as admin or editing video.cfg file), nothing worked. In my case issue was outdated drivers for the graphic card. After updating them via Windows Device Manager and restarting the computer, the game successfully launched

Hi Ham!
I'm currently running QC on an oldschool laptop. Probably older than yours. It's 10 years old. Anyway, it takes 15-20 minutes to start up. That's on a 10 maybe 15 minutes of black screen. Have you waited up to max 30 minutes and let it load?
