Zoom in Slow not working
I'm trying to learn how to start up the A-10c, but cannot follow the training missions due to the fact the "zoom in slow" key does not work.. it is "numpad * " .. i can use the quick zoom key, but that only zooms in halfway.. i need to zoom in all the way, using the numpad* key, but it has no effect when i press it. Please help a noob.

He's probably using the Steam key in DCS World, which wouldn't show up on his profile here.

Try to unbind the zoom key from the settings then re-bind it again.. I had similar problems when i added a zoom keybind to my joystick.

Thanks for the suggestion StoneCold313.. Unfortunately it did not work, i cleared the key binding, then saved. Then bound a new key to the 'zoom in slow' slot, saved, started the game, and nothing happened, same issue. The Zoom out slow key works just fine... and the zoom in normal key works just fine, but like i said, it only zooms in halfway, i cannot read the small print next to the switches in the cockpit. I really need to zoom in slow.. I have seen plenty of players on youtube zoom in slow just fine.. i am a little frustrated why i cant simply zoom in like everyone else.. ( and btw yes, i have tried with and without numlock on).... Please help a noob...

this would help alot, being able to zoom in...

Forget it.. half of my controls dont even work.. i tried to get through the start up tutorial.. but i get to the point of starting the engines up, which should be left alt + home, nothing happens, same with the right engine..
essentials to get the engines running. 1) Battery pwr ON, 2) Inverter to STBY [right panel] 3) All four boost pumps on (L/R WING and L/R MAIN). [left panel] 4) APU START 5) Wait for the apu rpm to reach 100. Gauge is on front lower right. Notice which one is moving. 6) APU GEN pwr (near battery and inverter) 7) Then Turn one engine on at a time and wait for it to stabilize before starting the other. (around 60% rpm)

EDIT: Keybind for Engines to idle is RIGHT {modifier} + home. Left won't work.

That's all there is to it. Order is important but if you follow those steps exactly you will get your engines running.

Can't help you with the zoom as I have it mapped to a axis. You're making sure you are mapping it under the correct aircraft/(game-sim-mode)? The game has different keybinds depending on the 'mode' your playing in.

Sorry it didn't work. Next thing you can try is what Strider said, check the binds from the right page. If you are flying in 'game' mode, lots of the buttons are different from simulation. Like V for example, in simulation it's wide/narrow view from your targeting pod, in game(arcade) it targets next enemy.

I appreciate the response, but my issue is not learning the start up procedure. I was working my way through the start up tutorial, taking notes, learning the correct order in which to start the A-10. When i get to the point where it requires me to set left engine to idle, i hit the keyboard shortcut and nothing happens.

I have double checked in my control settings, i am running simulation mode, and in simulation control settings, right Alt + Home is default, yet it does nothing..

This is the same exact issue that im having with "Zoom in slow".. ive triple checked the correct key bindings in the control settings, yet it simply does not work in-game. Ive even tried what StoneCold313 said, and rebound the command to something different. Still nothin.

I can live w/o zoom in slow, just memorize all the switches and never actually read the text, but it's kinda hard to do anything when you cant start the engines, heh..

Ok, just checking as quite a few times I've though I've run into something that might be a bug then found I was actually doing something wrong. Just recently with MK82AIRS not dropping in pair when I had them set to Fixed Lo. Wound up that stations 5/7 won't release in pair.

Just one thing. In your first post you said LEFT {modifier} + home to start a engine. That is incorrect. Not sure if it was just a typo, but it's RIGHT {modifier} + home. Left will not work:)

If you really are sure your doing everything right and this thread runs out of ideas bring it over to DCS's forums. I'm sure someone there can get it straightened out.

Thanks again for the help! Ya, looking back i do notice i put left alt, but i meant right alt.. either way though after right alt + home failed, i tried a dozen different keys + home just incase. Im sure im just being a major noob, but it seems very simple enough. I'll try the DCS forums, thx for the suggestion.

Don't feel bad about being a major noob. I would bet that their are 100's of "major noobs" right now encountering every problem known to man. One asks for help when needed, those who respond care about the other guy or wouldn't answer. Everyone started learning this sim somewhere unless they actually fly Hawgs, but I'll bet they spent MANY hours in a sim first! I'm waiting on My saitek x52 right now (hopefully arriving Monday!) & haven't even installed everything. I'm working on building my own IR head tracker so when I start I'll have everything (accessory wise) working. I'll bet the bugs will be enormous trying to tie all of the new gear & get it working together.
Try reading this thread if you have not already:

This is a problem for me recently. Can't figure it out. Been flying the A10 for months with no issues. Just got the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and it was fine for a week then started happening.
