Nope. It's just an incomplete game about the story and maps. But is the best Star Ocean so far about the battle system.

Yup, it's actually pretty good technically (graphics and animation), and I like the characters. Story is kinda short compared to the previous games, but there are also lots of side quests in the game if you're into them.

Worst in the franchise. Its a bad PS3 upscale. It was a PS3 Japan only release. It looks awful by today's standards and Star Ocean 3 is arguably the last game with a stellar story.

The PS3 version only released in Japan, but the PS4 version was in Japan also if you're saying they didn't have a PS4 version over there.

What I'm saying is that the PS4 version is a bad upscale. The game itself is poor outside of its combat

I didnt like the last Star Ocean, its really the worst in the series. Pretty bad game in several aspects. I even didnt had patiente to get till the end game, abandoned it half way.

I don't see how it's possible for people to call Star Ocean 5 the worst in the series when a game like Star Ocean 1 exists, which is far, far worse. I have no idea why people view SO1 as a classic, because it's actually pretty terrible. It has nice characters and graphics, but everything else, especially the battle system, is awful.

First Departure was a great improvement, but it still shared the same issue of feeling incomplete in terms of story.

Agreed. 1 and 2 in terms of story are the best in the franchise. 3 is after. then 4 then 5.

I only played a bit of the original, but I thought First Departure was great. Enjoyed it more than SO2.

I played it on ps4. Its absolutely awful compared to SO3 or even SO4. I'd prefer to have a remaster of SO3
