Other than that, that stage in the game offers a variety of options to improve your performance. For starters, you could craft a Paragon Sword and Shield (both is probably a bit too difficult without help if you're having trouble with that story boss, though).
Also, do you have a Lv3 Fusion skill? The buffs you'll get from them are fairly significant, potentially even more so than your equipment.
what's your duel rank currently? at certain milestones duel rank gives passive buffs for the main game outside multiplayer that could help. if it's low enough, then maybe grind the highest rank of the warriors of the sky duel boss till it stops increasing.
after that, gear will help somewhat but mainly you'll need to grind exp lvls (try building up a kill chain while using exp buffing potions) because of the "level suppression" system this game uses like irl MMORPG's.
basically, the lvl gap between you and your target gives the one with the higher lvl an advantage and lets them do more damage to those beneath them. likewise, you won't do hardly any damage at say... lvl 80 vs a lvl 120 monster.
i tried that...couldn't do even 100+/hit even with my best SS's due to that system.
in irl MMORPG's that system would show enemy names in green down to gray if below you or orange to dark red if they're above you and it's no different in this game. if you see a monster with it's name in dark red, just go train some more and come back to it.
the HNM's are a prime example of this system in action. they're purposefully WAY higher lvl than anything else in the area they spawn in to serve as an extreme challenge (extremely tanky too).
another thing to consider is certain enemies have weapon type weaknesses. not all but i know golems in particular are weak to clubs and just shrug off anything else you throw at them including SS's. a good example of this is that super tanky golem NM guarding the club legendary base item in oltrum bastion.
could take over 10 minutes with 1h sword or dual wield to grind down that walking boulder at lvl 80. but with a good club...it's not quite so tanky.
me and a friend were doing sacraments yesterday and there's even one with a boss whose gimmick is that it shifts between slash, thrust, pierce, and blunt weapon type weaknesses. weak to 1 but immune to all others until it shifts to a different weakness.
i really wish we had a guide with all the info for this game gathered into one place instead of being scattered all across the internet in fragments. :/ thinking of doing something about that sometime...
Idk my level because I have never dwelled xD
I have another difficulty, how can I unlock the chaos detector skill? I'm in the Thundra and an npc said I need this skill
as for the duel rank... that mainly gives you passive buffs for the wots content as you pass certain milestones.
also, be VERY careful fighting the invisible enemies the chaos detector skill reveals as they are VERY dangerous. near lvl 200 NM's in most cases.
I know what you're talking about, but I doubt that this game uses such a system. Not directly anyway: My theory is, that this game handles Attack, Damage and Defense the same way Hollow Fragment does. If your Attack is higher than the enemy Defense, you'll inflict full damage. If not your damage will decrease according to the ATK-DEF-difference. So it probably was merely a difference of stats, although the level indicates that of course. My reason for thinking that? Killing that Treant HNM in the first area for instance is very well possible even before reaching level 30. And that thing is Lv80 or 90 or something. You just have to muster enough attack, which isn't all that hard using the right EX skills/buffs.
That's a very good hint. In a similar vein, Slime monsters are pretty resistant to blunt attacks.
An important detail here is that the damage type isn't strictly depending on the weapon type: Using Sword Skills, the damage type is determined by that skill. Most weapons offer one or two blunt Sword Skills even though all other Sword Skills deal slashing or thrusting damage. So you can just use different skills and can melt down Golems without having to switch weapons. (That works with many, but not all weapon types.)
That's a bit of an overstatement. Yes, they can do some decent damage, but they also have very little HP compared to HNMs and especially elemental bosses.
The general problem of this game is that the pre-DLC main story is so utterly easy that a lot of players are never forced to get used to many of the core game mechanics. Parrying, evasion and particularly Sword Skill chains to name just a few. Many are also skipping Sacrament dungeons. While these are not necessary it's still a bit of a shame to run around with basically 10 unused equipment slots...
