using controller

how do i use my controller? im in the set controls menu and when i switch to the controller option im unable to save and use my controller

For anyone having the same issue as me and found nothing was working.

For me it looked like steam wasn't detecting my controller. In the controller configuration everyone says to go to, if your controller is detected it will show at the bottom of the list.

Nothing was showing there for me and I could see there was an option to "UNHIDE CONTROLLERS". I clicked that option and my xbox controller was then being detected by steam.

I started up the game and everything was working fine after that.

steam>settings>controllers>(im using ps4 controller, so enable ps4 support) and i enabled generic support. also if you're using ds4windows, some reason it conflicts with steam controller support, so close it and restart your game. i still havent figured out how to use my potions on the hotbar yet =[

i see there's still no actual solution to this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ports gamepad bad gamepad support.

the 2 solutions linked above are the same solution i've tried in the past. they do not actually work and when they do SOMETIMES work it's usually temporary until the games controls decide to break again.

anyone have any ACTUAL solution to this games problem that actually works?

The game supports Xinput Controllers just fine, is the Steam Input API that is getting in the way.

Disable the Steam Input API in the Game Properties, and the controller will work perfectly fine.

Video above worked for me. I was about to ask for a refund. Just enter big picture mode, click the game pad icon and make sure to check the boxes you need for your controller type.
