Explaining Kiritos "Harem"

Random thread to explain this seeing as a running thing is that everyone accuses every girl of falling in love with Kirito

Asuna - Kiritos actual girlfriend

Lisbeth - She has feelings for Kirito after they bonded on a quest in Sword Art Online but refuses to act on them as she knows it would hurt Asuna. She has made it clear if Asuna broke up with Kirito she would consider him fair game (As far as contenders for romance go Lisbeth is actually the only rival in series to Asuna)

Silica - She has a crush on Kirito but she is so young that it's basically what Tv Tropes would regard as a precocious crush. Kirito saved her from being killed and she became infactuated with the hero like Kirito rather than the person. Kirito on his end makes it clear she only reminds him of his sister.

Leafa - She fell in love with a player in-game who turned out to be Kirito and this caused her major heartbreak as she is his sister (Although not biological). She was able to get over this and move on. She has a school friend who has a crush on her and while she rejects his feelings when he confesses she does leave it up in the air that she may accept them later.

Sinon - She does not love Kirito and sees him just as a good friend. Considering everything which happens regarding her in her story arc it is highly unlikely she will be considering dating men for some time.

Yuuki - This one is simple. She's not into Kirito, she's into Asuna and joked that if they got married Asuna would have to take her families name otherwise Asuna would be called Yuuki Yuuki

So there you go, despite widespread opinion there is no actual harem in Sword Art Online. Kirito just hangs around with a few girls.

Original SAO made it that way, and it was ridculous and stupid.
People see it as a Harem because of how many girls to guys ratio
is around Kirito. I was just mentioning this to a friend. I didn't like the "harem"
in SAO because the fact Kirito has had Asuna, they still went out their way to have other girls flock around him and fall in love. Instead of constantly on Kirito's di.ck, why not of had Klein have someone? :/
I understand Kirito ignores all the girls but Asuna, it's still uneeded.

It´s harem or borderline harem, I dont think you can convince people when almost every girl character has looked at Kirito and couldn´t avoid stereotype crush lines on the episodes or games or whatever, I don´t think I remember a male character that´s had the same for even one of the girls or any side-story since you would expect most of them would have moved on to another guy already.. but all male characters are portrayed as a lesser being compared to Kirito. Didn´t the girl that died in like an episode or 2 also had a crush on him too? lol

I even read you can date all the girls on the game so... yeah.
Don´t take it too far on explaining its just a mary sue anime with stereotype crush stuff all over the place.

Note out that this is Hollow Realization following the Hollow Fragment continuality. There are more girls after his pants than in the mainline anime.

Asuna: Orignal girl who was married but then due to bugs, got divorced on floor 76, which opened up the rest of Kirito's harem back into the competion. Easiest route: She's already in a relationship with you.

Lizbeth: Liz is Asuna's best friend and is probably the strongheaded one in the group. I've had a lot of trouble trying to do her route this game.

Sinon: Due to new game, Sinon has a different role. She joined the group in SAO post floor 76 and has been a very close kohai to Kirito, who basically became her teacher. She's probably my favorite route this game and is a hardcore and fun to work with.

Silica: She's sorta taken over the job of younger sibling who's got a kiddy crush/hero worship of Kirito. She's adorable...and cute...and loli...nough said. Her route's tricky since she's pretty weary to close contact.

Phillia: If Kirito is the swords nut, Phillia is the Treasure nut. She was trapped in the Hollow zone for a long time before she joined the crew. She has a personally deep relationship with Kirito from before hand so she's pretty easy to work with in the routes.

Leafa: Kirito's actual sister. I don't know. She's sorta a turn off for me so I never pursued her route. I hear it's pretty straightforward though.

Strea: She's a lot of fun simply becuase she'll glomp every bit of physical affection you give her. The onee-san of the party, she's quirky, chipper, and wiith giant funbags coming out of her chest. Her route's pretty fleixble and allows you to have as much fun as possible and experiment.

Yuuki: I loved Yuuki from the anime...she was the adorable cheerful girl you always wanted to cheer for. She's not restricted like that here. She's pretty much your best bro. Note: her route is extremely difficult. She takes everything as a bro level of friendship and extremely difficult to romance. Once she's excited/blissful keep her that way as long as possible and farm her points. Once you loose it, it's pretty much over. She's very sensitive beyond the cheek poking and will not respond nicely to bridal carry. Beleive me, I've tried three times so far, each one failing.

Argo: Argo's one of those tricky characters. She's probably the cunning/clever type who's really smart and teases you relentlessly. She knows you're hooked on her and will juice YOU for everything you're worth. Her route is weird but fun if you're familiar with her character.

Kizmel, Rain, etc i haven't tried yet. but I think that sums up the Hollow Fragment/Lost Song/Hollow Realization crew.

I guess you mean Sachi. No, she wasn't in love with Kirito. He only made her feel safe by convincing her that she wouldn't die.

And you are right, it is possible to date every main girl in the game, which is totally stupid in my opinion. First of all this system is annoying af and isn't fun at all but maybe that's just my opinion. And lastly Kirito would never cheat on Asuna because he is not an a*shole at all and the story makes it really clear that he loves her very much. Indeed, sometimes he flirts a bit with other girls, but to me this seems to be rather unintentional.

These are just my 2 cents, everything else was perfectly explained by Hellstorm901.

TBH the ability to date the other girls in the game is just so that people who doesn't care about the Canon relationship between Kirito and Asuna can have their character date whoever they want

They should of avoided doing so. It's wrong and basically reverse NTR.
It's just bad. If they wanted to do shx like this, they should of left Asuna's realtionship and let the fans decide the canon. This "cheating" thing leaves a bad taste.

With that hypocriticaly said, I cheated on Asuna with Strea, right when Lis, Leafe and Asuna was in the inn.. :^) And they're both in my party LUL. That's just my feelings on it.
The 'harem' was one of my biggest peeves in the show.

She doesn't have dual wielding sadly. Devs really missed out on an opportunity there as Kirito himself says in the Light Novel is Yuuki was in SAO she'd be given the dual wield skill and not him.
