are you forced to play as kirito?

Hello i was thinking of getting this game but are you forced to play as kirito or is there a character creation and how does this work in the story?

Character creation is there, you are Kirito in animated cutscenes, your character in game cutscenes.

why a shame? what sao fan wouldnt want to play with a badass like kirito

because not everyone thinks that bland character is badass i do love the sao universe but playing as a that character is just not for me :)

No, you can create your own custom character, though the game still treats it as if you're playing as Kirito. Lots of customizable options though. Here's mine

So it is not the gaming experience that matters, but what or who you "identify" with? This stuff is mental impairment. All there is to it.

when you play a rpg game some people want to rp in the rpg when the character is already a existing chararcter that has 0 charm to the person it ruins the experience to them in this case this is counts for me and i am just going to unsub if you enjoy the game more power to you but not everyone is the same if you cannot comprehand that yes impairment there :)

yeah you can customize the character but aint one that controlls the character still kirito? because that how it works in the anime so in the end you might have a different avatar but in canon kirito is still controlling the avatar but thanks anyway :)

I feel your pain though. Especially for the female crowd who want to avoid a male centric harem canon.

If male protagonists with ridiculous harems big enough to rival Rito Yuuki from To Love Ru aren't your thing, Harem Art Online definitely isn't for you. Yeah, I agree it sucks, but it's a huge part of the series. At least you can turn his voice off in the settings and you don't have to look at his avatar though.

Edit: I guess you can say the series is very "plot" rich (☞ﾟヮﾟ)☞ ( . Y . )

At the start you automatically get Kirito as your default character when you're forced to enter character creation, but there are loads of customization options. They have every character's hairstyle, different eye options, different heights and a couple of other values you can tinker with. So I think you could probably make Klein, or a lookalike if you wanted too.

Oops, I forgot to add that you can also change your character's appearance and name at the Inn right after the tutorial, so you're not stuck with the same character if you want to change your appearance.
