Sooo... Is Milla canonically Brazilian?
Asking because she uses words like "queridinho" (darling) and "tchau" (bye).

Information about her was never properly informed on Psychonauts 1 so it was a surprise for me in this one to see her randomly dropping words in portuguese.

In the game, Milla explains that her name is Carmila (unsure if it's written in the subtitles with 1 L or 2, wasn't paying extreme attention to the exact spelling), that Agent Nein pronounced her name wrong, she liked the sound of the mispronunciation, and she kept using that as her new name until everyone just called her Milla. If you want to see the dialogue for yourself, the conversation should be available after you complete Hollis' level and return to her office (adjacent to Sasha's Lab, which has a Fast Travel point inside of it if you've unlocked that system).

No idea if any of that changes her Brazilian nationality from the first game, but that's her in-game explanation for the odd name.

She also threatens that if she thinks someone's trying to mess with her mind, she'll "levitate [them] to the moon", so I don't think we're going to have any more levels inside her mind anytime soon...

I don't know if it's still canon, but the official site for the first game (before it was taken down) apparently says so.

This could be interesting, because neither Milla nor Vodello are brazilian names. Still it was a surprise for me to hear portuguese out of nowhere in a game like this

Milla is her nick name in game it explains her full name is Camilla, which can be a Brazilian name. Vodello is a made up name I do believe.

Camila with ONE L is a common Brazillian name yes but I see, thank you for the explanation. She could just have very rich parents with weird surnames

Bro. I'm brazilian too, in case your "who cares" first world ass is too lazy to check that in my profile.
Also i'm just interested in the lore. Characters are everything in this game. They are complex and interesting to know about. Specially someone like Milla.

I already enjoyed the first game several times and i already enjoyed the second. So yes, I do care.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Interesting, i missed not just all of that but whatever in the first game stated her nationality. Yeah, "Carmilla", with or without double Ls is definetly not a common brazilian name, maybe just a typo from the devs, it happens.

We might get another mission in her mind if the situation calls for it. Like teaching Raz a new levitation technique.

So far, I don't think we've gone into Sasha's or Milla's minds outside of their specific constructed versions. Maybe something happens back at camp in Psychonauts 3 and we can do them again in a less sanitized construct. That's putting aside the side area in Milla's mind with the fire and vault.

Just as an update. This is in the original Psychonauts manual pdf (so it's canon):

Milla Vodello
The Mental Minx. International secret agent. Brazilian levitation instructor. Party Girl.
Wherever Milla goes, there seems to be an upbeat soundtrack. She loves working with children and worries about their safety. She teaches them how to use their thoughts to fly, float and keep bouncing.

So the information was always there but not in clear sight. Can't believe i play Psychonauts for YEARS, OVER AND OVER and never noticed this.

Thank you guys so much for the confirmation.

Also can i mention how ironic it is how her best friend / possible love interest is a German guy? I love it.

I found Brazilian people named "Camilla" (with two Ls) with a quick Google search. If Brazil's anything like other nations, there's bound to be all kinds of different spellings of similar names.

What are you talking about? The thread isn't "over," this is an online discussion forum. You said that you weren't sure if Camilla was a Brazilian name or a typo... I said it was definitely a name. That's it. Take your chip off your shoulder and quit being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weirdo about people replying to your thread. You're the one who keeps bringing up nationality like some weird obsession.
