I'll gladly pay full price for a quality game, but I fear that "2" will not have nearly as much flair and polish as the original did... I purchased the original on 3 platforms and multiple times... love playing the original. PC, XBOX, PS2, Humble Bundle, Steam, Signed PC Big Box copy (on CDs!!!). I will only buy the new game once on PC only, and hopefully it will live up to my expectations...
I'm also worried that Microsoft may have "muddied" the creative waters at Double Fine :-(
Also, the initial release date would have been Q4 2019. The acquisition by MS has certainly given DF financial security. They wouldn't have had an additional 1 1/2 years of development and polishing if they had published the game themselves.
I think the acquisition solely benefited the game's development.

"Linux and Mac will be supported shortly after launch - timing on that is TBC."
Unfortunately, that's all the information I have to share on the matter.
