Transferring Xbox Game Pass PC saves?

Does anyone know if it's possible? I started playing on the Game Pass version, I found the purported save folder called wgs under "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Psychonauts2

It worked for me. I went to the Microsoft folder:%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Psychonauts2_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\ and copied the most recent save folder (the one with the most KB)

I then went to the steam folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Psychonauts2\Saved\SaveGames\ and deleted the file "Psychonauts2Save_A" (SAV file).

I pasted the copied file from the Game Pass version into this folder, renamed it"Psychonauts2Save_A.sav" and boom - it loaded it up.

I just did it successfully - now back to playing on pc, with the -dx11 console command. Game is running like silk on max settings /4k. It's a bummer the PC Game Pass version was a bit rough; this game is so wonderful.

and a whole bnuch of random numbers and letters without an extension. I suspect these could be packed up "regular" save files, but I wouldn't know how to access them, I couldn't extract them.

I was able to transfer my save data from Game Pass to Steam using XGP-save-extractor[github.com]. It doesn't currently support Psychonauts 2 natively but there's an issue[github.com] open to add support for the game.

If support for the game is added, you should be able to just download the latest release and run the .exe to automatically extract the save files. Until then:

Download and extract the XGP-save-extractor source code from the GitHub repository.

Open the games.json file in something like Notepad.

Add the following to the list of games and save the file:

Download and install Python 3.10+ if you don't have it already. You can do this easily by opening the Microsoft Store app, searching for Python and picking a version >= 3.10.

Open PowerShell in the folder containing the XGP-save-extractor source code or navigate to that directory by entering something like cd 'C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Downloads\XGP-save-extractor-main'

Enter python main.py

This will extract all of your detected Game Pass games' save files into the directory the XGP-save-extractor source code, storing them as .zip files prefixed with the name of the game.

You can then unzip the psychonauts_2_*.zip folder which should give you three files: P2ConfigSaveSlot.sav, Psychonauts2Save_A.sav and Psychonauts2Save_0.sav.

Finally, copy these files into your Steam Psychonauts 2 save game folder, located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Psychonauts2\Saved\SaveGames\.
