Is there some way to track down missing figments in game?
I ask, because I am missing three figments in Hollis's Hot Streak and for the life of me, I cannot find them. I've scoured the whole level, and all I can think is that they might still be in the Pillinko game, but I cannot replay that, so are those just lost forever, is there another way into that game, or is there a way in game to point me towards figments in a given area so I can finally find these things?

Funnily enough, I had the exact same problem with Psychonauts 1 and The Milkman Conspiracy, though I was only missing one in that one, while I am missing 3 here...

Any ideas? all the guides available online just list a handful of spots, which I have checked.

I'm having kind of the same problem. I just completed Holli's classroom but the Intern's Manual tells me, I found 41 of 42 figments although I was really careful combing the level. In your Intern's Manual you can look at the statistics of the previously visited minds. There you can check the figments of each mind, too. The strange thing is, when I go through the figments, I cannot see anyone missing. So it looks like you either can't see which ones are missing or it is some kind of bug. Maybe yours is a bug too, although 3 missing figments are a little bit too much for a coincidal developement accident imo.

Yeah I know I've missed a few figments in the Pillinko machine, but I can't get back in it after getting the Gazillion coin. Would be nice to get a patch set up so we can either gather the remaining figments or have them all the remaining spewed out across the room afterwards

This one's on the x-ray wall. The only level that's a real problem for figments is the "Psi-King" one. A technicolor nightmare. I'm missing 3.

You only see collected figments. if there are multiple of the same shape/color, then you se X/Y under it. If it's a unique figment, I.E. the only shape/color of its kind, it will not appear in your figment list until you find it, making that list kinda useless as a collection aid.

Bleh, I can't get that last Figment then as you can't go back to these parts. That sucks..

That's what I thought, thanks for the confirmation.

To all the other contributors:

I don't know how far you are in the game, but it seems to me there will be Nain's Brain Tumbler available sometime later in the game. If it works as it does in Psychonauts (1) you can repeat all the mind levels with it.

Please tell us if you have access to the Tumbler already and it doesn't work this way and I'm wrong.

oh, we have access to the tumbler and Collective Unconscious. But that doesn't change the fact that some figments are just placed in permanently locked off areas. If you don't collect them your first go through, they're just locked off forever, it seems.

Ok, that's really unfortunate. So I will have to look even more careful in my game...

They will probably open up again after some kind of story trigger or in the post game. I can't imagine that they are really only obtainable on the first run. None of the figments were like that in the first game.

Yeah, but given there are figments in one-time minigames that are gone after you complete them, like Pillinko, or the fact you cannot get one of the emotional baggages in the cooking level due to it unlocking right before a bossfight and said fight booting you out of the world, and then reentering the world re-locks the cage it's in...yeah either there's some post game stuff they're not telling us about, or there are some serious oversights in this game that only released today :P
Here's hoping a patch comes out in the next few weeks to re-enable getting these figments/bags, and hopefully a mid to late game misc. patch to point you in the general direction of uncollected collectables. And here's hoping Double Fine devs are actually reading these steam discussions and steal my idea. ^_^

I'm actually having the same issue with compton's cookoff. I can't replay the last recipe to unlock the treasure lock box. I assume it has the steamer trunk tag since that's the only thing I'm missing in the level. Didn't Tim brag about this game not having any missables? Because thats a huge oversight if so.
Sum Gai Aug 25, 2021 @ 1:58pm
So far, there are a lot of blatant missables in this game.
HighLanderPony Aug 25, 2021 @ 2:03pm
If this COLLECTATHON is going to have MISSABLES, I'm going to be hella disappointed... like, what where they thinking?

Yeah, I tweeted at them but I don't expect a response. I'm just sort of floored that this made it past play testing, early copies and reviewers... Who the heck locks collectibles in a platformer?
