Personally I've gone with two heavy weapons. One modded for physical and one to deal with armor.
I disagree with that. IME, it's not so much the weapon itself as it is the upgrades the weapon has and the skills you have. If you focus your skills on the two-handed sword tree, your skill with two-handed swords is gonna be better than with heavy weapons. There are also weapon upgrades that can make a two-handed weapon outmatch anything a heavy weapon can do, even against armor.
