You'll run out of things worth spending them on long before max level (but you'll always be hurting for more attributes and talents).
Talents don't seem to be an issue, between gear boosting most of them +1 and companions also boosting them +1, meaning that by switching around your configuration you could have 3 in any given stat by just investing 1 talent point in each. Charisma seems to be the only one that routinely pays off also, whereas blacksmiths and vendors sell anything you could do with crafting or science.
Attributes seem to be the real limiting factor.
