Are some areas blocked by main quest progress?

I am a fair ways into the game at this point and am really enjoying it. I do have a question though I have a quest to investigate the Call Sen glade but when I zone in to the area I can't get to the quest marker. The path is blocked by a rock. There are no places that I can find to climb, there are no indications that vigor or intuition are needed either. There have also been paths in other zones that seem impassable by any normal means.

So I am wondering if it could be blocked until I get further into the main quest? I have a tendency in these type of games to finish any side content I find before advancing the main quest so that is what I am hoping is the case.

Or am I blind and simply missing something obvious?

Yup, there are a bunch of paths and regions that unlock as you go through main and side quests,

Blocked paths are always gonna be visited by a quest so don't worry. Exploration in this game is more for scenery and skill points, the rest just follow quests

Yes and the game even alludes to it most of the time if you tried to use the path before it unlocks.

Dont worry, by the end of the game all the blocked paths will be free and you get lead to all those places during main quests.
You cant miss them.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I assumed that was the case but just wanted to make sure. I just thought it was strange to have a side quest in my log that points me to one of those blocked areas
