If by that you mean that it stands in a category of its own, i would agree, but most likely different people would name that category in different ways :P
Let me start by saying the combat in Greedfall is not my fave either, but the "DS embedded muscle memory" will most likely prevent you from enjoying most if not all other similar games.
Kinda know the feeling myself, when after enjoying a game a lot, i dont feel like playing anything else after i finish it, so i start it all over again, but i snap out of it after a while, while many DS fans seem to be unable to snap out of it, and i assume thats because DS requires a very big amount of muscle memory, so it makes it harder to snap out of it.
Doesnt sound like you broke the addiction, i mean you replaced DS challenge runs with Doom challenge runs...but thats ok, as long as you are having fun, in the end thats all that matters.
