Are the people at spider insane?
How do I beat the tree monster when trying to board the boat? This is nuts. The only fights I've had so far where with a few criminals.

Just dodge to the side and stay behind it. Except for a spin attack (that turns it around), all its hits land directly to the front.

As said by the guy above, guns and traps. Dodge, place trap, shoot. Repeat as needed and stick him from behind when possible. This game gives you a button that can pause the game at any time for an unlimited amount of time and uses.

You must have patience, young padawan.

Hello there,

In my experience, I would recommend you to try to learn the boss movements. Once you learned it, you will find easy to defeat the boss with any type of class.

That in mind, now you should know by sounds when to dodge and when to attack the boss. It will take longer but it will be a fair fight and maybe you will not need to use lots of potions.

I don't know what difficulty you are playing on but if cannot defeat the boss with this recommendation, I would suggest you to put the game difficulty lower.

It's a lovely old trope called the "Wake up call boss".
Like the ogre on top of the Tower of Ishal, X-ATM092, Xenosaga's Gargoyle, and good old phantom Ganondorf! XD

But yes, I hate that fight too- the janky battle system is the real final boss of Greedfall tho, just like Gothic 2.

He is fast for a new player but... just shoot it? If you looted as you did the side quests you should have like 25+ ammo. Take your best pistol (if you got a better one than the starter) and just keep shooting the thing.

i said the same, i died about 2 times, just dogde and keep hitting him when u are near , just keep doge

I think I died once when i first saw him but thats only because I was intimidated. lol. The second time I focused on learning his moves and he went down like a fat sack of bricks.

Very likely not, but the game features a couple of fights against similar boss-like enemies - and then it will be non-weakened versions. So, review your attributes/skills/talents and your level and perhaps explore Serene a bit more - or retrain.

Had chosen a magician in my first playthrough on normal mode and could do it, so it seems that there are multiple options to be successful.

First things first: Yes, I am aware that this post is 3 weeks old by now and OP most likely succeeded. In case someone in the future has similar problems, I'll throw in my 2 cents as well.

When it starts reaching for its back, that means it'll throw some sort of spear at you. Keep your distance and dodge to the side. It will repeat the throw a few times and then start moving towards you, indicating its ranged phase is over.
Stay clear of the face. It only has frontal attacks and a spin. Strafe to a side and attack with a quick 1-2 combo, then block or dodge to be on the safe side.
Guns work really well against the bugger since then do tremendous armor damage as well as keep you safe. Afflictions of any kind except statis are excellent too, because they work around its huge defenses.

That's it. Play it save, take no risks and it'll be over soon. Check your inventory and merchants for upgrades if you have too much trouble. All in all it's imho a nice, rewarding early boss battle, reminding me of the good old gothic days.

And a little advice for future battles: Much like it was in Witcher 3, try to dodge beasts/animals and parry humans.

To OP. I'm having the exact same problem (Magic user). I simply can't dodge fast enough. I can reset game to Easy in the main menu, however it keeps defaulting back to Normal when I load the last save game. I was enjoying the game but for the life of me I cannot get past the beast.
