Well let me start by saying, it's your choice whether you buy it or not - I understand it is a very pricey game, however I argue that you get a lot out of it for that price.
1) The game is NOTHING like The Witcher, so don't use it as a comparison. It's like comparing a cardboard box to a mansion - people like the more expensive option, because it is more polished/less bugs etc. It is however, different as it is very heavy on dialogue choices.
2) A lot of choices affect relations, and there are a lot of factions, so its challenging to choose which to help/not. Companions can also leave you if you have bad relations with them, so choices really do matter.
3) I'm around 6 hours in, and can honestly say that the quests are the most enjoyable part of the game for me - each seems similar enough that you've had it in a rpg, yet distinct enough to engage you. Really good.
What i would like to know is how good relations between party and factions are... There are many games that propose this kind of thing and many games just give you a shallow product by these terms... just a feeling of choices and influence, but in the end there is no a real interaction and just only a way to follow. I mean, how much the game will change if you antagonize someone in your party? And factions?
Being not an openworld... if zones are big could be not a problem, as many older games were, and they were good... Ofc when you are used to free roaming it could take a while to adjust but guess it's not a problem.
More opinions?
I can't tell you much about how deep the relations with followers goes as I'm not that far in. I do know though, that if your relations with a companion gets too low, then they will refuse to fight by your side. Also, good relations with followers often results in them supporting you/giving feedback on choices you have and will make.
Hope I've been of some help :)
