Question: Coin Guard Merchandise Quest (Spoiler)

Anyone know if there's an alternate way to get the guards to move without making the laced drink since i don't have science 1, started with charisma 1 and not level 5 in the starting area to get the 2nd skill point or can we go back and do these quests later ?

Nice of the game to let you know that is a mechanic that can be used successfully.

The game does let you know this when you walk past those guards the first time.

The last stage refers to the OTHER Coin Guard Quartermaster in New Serene. (The quest starts in "old" Serene.) It continues on the other island.

I'm actually curious what the end result is, I've finished everything on the starter island but either mess with the log book in the office or ask the Captain to store the items after saving the kid.

But like what's actually in the boxes? Like in the story I'm afraid whatever is in them will lead to something bad on the island so I almost don't wanna try and get them on board.

Has anyone finished that quest in New Serene to see what the end result is of getting the boxes on board?

They contain a shipment of firearms, referred to as contraband. Although I'm not sure what the post-quest final result is yet, it can't be good.

So I should just stick to my original gut feeling, ignore the rest of the quest in Serene and hope they don't get too angry after getting off the boat lol. Thanks!

No problem. I think this is one of the major "faction influencing" quests.

I just don't see how getting them abord won't lead to huge issues down the road depending on the choices you make. Of course not doing it I may screw myself out of an entire plotline on the island. Blah.

God forbid the developers make the starting area a PROPER tutorial of the game's mechanics, that would be too hard. I don't mind going in circles wondering what to do, but it would be nice if the beginning of the game explained that's what you have to do, so you understand the possibility at least.
Sounds like you been playing too much generic AAA trash if you are struggling in this department. I can see that happening they way they spoon feed players though. One of many reasons I don't bother with console gaming anymore.

For anyone interested, you need a Ruby to get +1 Science which is a ultra rare drop in containers at that point of the game and the only viable approach that remains is taking Science on chracter creation.

The potion can be given to the 2 sailors that are in front of the top-right warehouse when NOT wearing disguise. Its the same 2 sailors that can easily be moved aside just by speaking to them in disguise and telling them you are their replacement.

Offering them the Laced Drink will not give any bonus apart from having the quest objective checked for crafting the potion. As with all plot items like the Charlatan's Antidote the Laced Potion will take up a slot and clutter your inventory so use it if you create it. Offering the drink will make the 2 sailors unconcious.

No. That is not the only viable approach at all. Just wear a uniform with the nauts logo on it and pass a speech check that doesn't even need charisma, don't spread misinformation. There are others ways than that too.
Its a seriously easy quest since the characters basically tell you what to do if you walk around, its even told in a pop up when you enter the area that there are many ways to do it. You have many paths not just science
