its going to effect the game in some way so i would say alot of these quests are main story quests (i would roughly say around 30 to 35 per side as there is the natives and then the people you play as) with some being side quests that effect your partners trust or just out right get you better gear.
Has been answered by devs: 80 quests reported at launch.

And yes I do worry about how many pages are left when I'm reading a good book.
It gives me an idea how long the game is if I go and do any extra quest, when I buy a game I hope to get at least 100hrs out of it minimum, get lost in the story I am so into it. Tired of the short fast games and that's it its done. Been gaming since the 80's and well have a particular taste in what I am looking for and will spend my money on these days. Too many times today we buy a game and then that's it or the game is horrible. There are less than a handful of studios that put out an amazing game still. Even when buying books I am very picky these days.
You mean, tresure boxes? I think there will be some, and also some bosses which most likely will carry items with them
