Also the fighting sucks in general if you're using an older controller, and the arrow pad, whatever it's called, at least mine, is totally rubbish and does nothing or the wrong thing at least half of the time. Being able to change the controller setup would be a vast improvement.
You find +1 crafting gloves early game. Just never get rid of them. It allows you to install +1 science on any armor. So you can make a science armor that you basically only use for potions.
Level 1 science for potions is all you need. I never had a need to drink a level 3 potion because of the sheer quantity of level 1 potions.
I never pumped strength or endurance. It's wasted for magic users.
Honestly 0 endurance outfits aren't much worse then 2 endurance ones. To see a bump you need to dump at least 3 points. And that's a waste.
You will fight/teleport around like nightcrawler and never be hit in combat. Unless it's a player accident. Which usually occurs because the boss fights are long.
I could get hit because I was trying to defeat the boss as fast as possible.
Club, sword, gun, trap, magic it soon plays exactly the same. Maybe magic is slightly more different since you can stun lock all of the enemies indefinitely.
I would hesitate to call it an action rpg. That's more Diablo and torch light type of games.
To me it plays like assassin creed, tomb raider, GTA.
Some action RPG do have different combat feels and yeah a lot feel similar.
After 5 points into Hammers you get access to two-handed hammers and healing magic. Throw in stasis and self-buffs you literally smash ♥♥♥♥ into smithereens.
Plus when you do the quests for the Naut Admiral you get a nasty two-handed heavy weapon that requires 5 strength and it looks like a weird no-dachi polearm thing.
EDIT - I don't like firearms because in all honesty they are broken AF. You can literally spam firearms and kite and destroy any boss in the game even on the highest difficulty.
