How can you tell which armor is a "disguise"?
Having trouble with the disguises, Im not pleased with the way this mechanic works. Im not a fan with the idea of this gameplay design, like in Shadow of the Tomb Raider it usually just ends up being a PITA rather than immersive.

How can I tell which armors are actually disguises? Because there are MULTIPLE themed armors and apparently not all of them are arbitrarily classified as a disguise despite being appropriate apparel for a given faction. For example I equipped a set of some nautical/sailor themed clothing yet was still attacked when spotted by Nauts.

Any help would be appreciated! Im doing the companion mission for Vasco and he wants me to get armor thats a disguise, thing is the blacksmith isn't selling anything like that, and I dont have 400 gold handy to buy a full set regardless...

The armor has a factional icon on the lower right. (Torso only, other parts dont matter)

Naut stuff should be any armor with 'sailor' in the title. Look for a blue shield icon next to the value/weight. Worse comes to worse, just take the outfit Vasco is wearing and put it on yourself.

Here's the various faction shield symbols:

Pale Blue with gold symbol: Nauts
Red with a sun: Theleme
White with blue upsidown V: Congregation of Merchants
Blue/Green shield with Lion: Bridge Alliance
Grey with crossed weapons: Coin Guard
Diamond with swirl: Natives

Just take vascos armor from him since he wont need it and give it back afterwards
ez
And agreed, Im not trying to haul around a clost full of clothes * in case * one of these cornball mission pops up again.

Heh I get ya. I need to carry around clothes just for skill checks so I just made them serve double purpose by crafting skill bonuses onto the straps. Nauts (Lockpick), Bridge (Science), Theleme (Vigor). That way if I need a disguise or meet a skill req I'm covered.

But mugging your companions for their wardrobe is a completely viable alternative.
