it looks like a 1:1 copy of real armor with gold here and there (hence ceremonial)
Sorry real armors dont look like giant shoulders and leather fetish gear in your north american or anime games.

Honestly, i just tossed on the priest guy and called it a day, it was similar to the one he was using.

That Merchant Prince one seems like the only one fitting the main character if you ask me anyway.

I love how you can tell how unhappy, overweight and unloved people like Castania are just from the ♥♥♥♥ they post on forums.

It always seems to be those pesky wamanz, sjws and feminazi's at fault.

Ya merchant prince is the best looking one. They should have made this one the best armor in the game for the main char.

Stop crying. The armor is just ugly even when it's a real armor. Just look at the merchant armor. Best looking one in the game and still kinda a real one. Just because the armor is real it doesn't have to be ugly and to be the best armor.

The armor design seems to be for mobility and travel rather than for wartime use.
For instance Knight Armor in the colonial period aren't as effective since in this game, armies of soldiers uses firearms. This is why they only wear the basics of layers for armor plates it seems.

Only bridge alliance field mass amount of gunmen and they dress appropriately. However, some of their early game set have better armor rating than other factions for... reasons. Theleme and coin guard dont have that much range power and frequently engage in melee combat. They still need melee armors for that reason.
There are breastplate designs to work against early firearm. The conquistadors use them... and quickly abandon them in south america. But Teer Fradee has more temperate climate so wearing them shouldnt be a problem.

Oh boy I have bad news for you. At that time and age good looking ceremonial armor have a giant d*ck molded into their design. It was a wild age where you have free range to show your manliness (if you can afford it) unlike today.
Best looking? Only in your opinion. The set is overdesigned, busy af to look at with lace and frill like woman's ballroom clothes. Putting it on make you look like an adolescent noble boi trying hard to play war but cant shoulder the weight of real plates.
Imo best looking is inquisitor chest pieace. But there is no uniques looking the same.

Actually codpieces were a 16th century fashion in both civilian dress and by extension armour where practical - for ex there's a preserved foot tournament suit made for Henry VIII of England with a famously prominent example, I can dig up pictures if you want. They were long out of fashion by the second half of the 17th which is what this game's aesthetics are based on.

"Lace and frill" sounds very much like standard fare for the first half of the same century (so fitting for what is implicitly an older set) when EKSBAWKS HUEG falling lace-trimmed collars were all the rage even for battlefield wear; see, for ex, this 1637 portrait of the young Princes of the Rhine Palatinate:

(lad on the right is Rupert, later famous for his participation in the English Civil War btw)

Baroque fashions were as weird as any and as usual the more fashionable an outfit is for its own time the more likely it is to look absolutely ridiculous once outmoded. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Atleast these lads are in full plates, it neutralise the frill :^)

Three-quarter "cuirassier" armour actually, greaves having dropped out of use already over the previous century in order to save weight for bulletproof breastplate and helmet. And only heavy cavalry wore that level of protection (and even they only for set-piece battles, just helmet and cuirass was worn for patrols and raids) due to the weight so...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
