question about magic and divine rings
i was wondering if your going to play as mainly a mage
would it be beter to increase your mana pool or mental power??

sinces so far every ring i have seen requires mental power and not willpower

so basicly what im asking is higher level rings vs higher mana pool

Mental power first, then willpower (I'd maybe do 2:1 leveling them).

Rings require mental power. Amulets require willpower. As a mage, you'll eventually want both at 4 (5 can wait—you may never even find any that require 5).

Pure mage build is suffering. I had a lot more fun using swords as my main with Stasis, Mage Armor, whatever the healing spell is called, and whatever the super one is called all bound to the combat buttons while holding right trigger. I'm doing a divine ring build now and it kinda sucks, especially against guardians who are resistant to magic.

So, I would probably only do Mage on Extreme because the other difficulty tiers are so easy and forgiving big dumb slow swords will do the trick. I personally played as a mage the entire game on Extreme and had very little problems. I would suggest late game unlocking the Gun ability for the final boss but that's a ways down the road. As far your question I would do Mental Power to 2-3 then max out WillPower and switch back to the rings.

I only found one Legendary Ring my whole play through. So, even if you only get to 4 Mental Power you should be okay. Just something to think about Mental Power allows you to do more damage I believe with the rings so if you are pure mage I would highly recommend maxing out Mental Power and Will Power as soon as possible. You will want the healing ability as well but you can kind of mix-match your build style how you see fit.

There are a couple hard to find rings that require 5 mental power. One requires level 2 lock picking but isn't guaranteed and is possible to be a common vendor trash purple ring which requires 4 mental power. The contents of a chest seems to be decided the first time you go to the map it's on, so saving before you open it wont help, but saving before going to the map probably will.
