HELP: My savegame is gone. What to do?

Startup Company is officially including savegame compatibility, but only between 1 version number. This means if you played Beta 15 and then wait until Beta 17 your savegame won't be transferred automatically. However, if you returned at Beta 16, you savegame was automatically converted.

The reasoning is simply a matter of prioritizing. Making official support between multiple versions requires a lot of work. Instead, we want to support 1 version and then prioritize building new content instead.

Fortunately, you can still continue playing your savegame!
This is just not official and there's no guarantee that it will work. Here's how you do:

1. Shut down the game.

2. Open your savegame folder. The locations are:
Windows: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Startup Company
OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Startup Company/SaveData
Linux: ~/.StartupCompany

3. Find the folder named after the last beta you played. Find all the files starting with "sg_" and copy them to your clipboard.

4. Paste the files to the folder named after the latest Beta version. At the time of writing "Beta21" is the latest.

5. Start up the game and cross your fingers. Hopefully your savegame will show up in the "Load Game" menu.
