Saving?

So I got back into the game after a long hiatus, and I started it up yesterday. I was playing for quite a while and got pretty far. I went to go offline for the night and I was about to just go and play again, but for some reason I don't see a "Continue" on the screen like I saw when I was exiting the game and the Load screen shows nothing. Can someone help me out here?

Hi LuckySara,

The game itself will automatically check if a savegame exists after saving. Unfortunately I've seen a couple of incidents where Steam Cloud have overwritten the savegame folder when restarting Steam.

1. Do you remember if you started the game using Steam or directly?
2. Are you using Windows, Mac or Linux?

I started the game using Steam and I'm on Windows

Alright, please try the following:
* Press Windows Key + R
* Paste in: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Startup Company\beta16
* Press enter

This is where all savegames are stored. Do you see any files starting with sg_?

Alright. My last hope is that your anti-virus might have put the files into quarantine. If you don't see anything in there, I'm afraid it's lost to the unknown :-/

Sorry to hear that :-/ There's currently hundreds of people playing with no saving issues, but I think you should start a new savegame, but this time restart the game every 15-30 minutes for the first hour. Just to make sure it you don't lose more progress and you can see your savegame.

Same thing happened to me right now.

Playing the game for the first time 2h in and lost everything, cannot see the config files or the savegame file. Config files, because I selected fullscreen and it defaults to resized. Playing the game on Linux.

Damn, sorry to hear that. You didn't receive any errors at any point? Starts to look like some very sporadic bug.

Went back in started a new games, saved and can continue the game once I start the game again, but I lost my previous progress.

Could this be the cloud sync again?

I did notice (my fiance did as well) that the first savefile goes missing but the 2nd time you try it it saves properly

Alright, my achivements didn't register on steam as well, nothing there, like "Hire 1 employee", etc. It's like I never played.
