mediocre char development
average combo and weapons
DS1= hack and slash, brutal combos with a nice story and gameplay
DS2= hack and slash, with a really good lootsystem, skills and hours of fun, the story and gameplay are really enjoyable, DLCs are amazing, you have a lot to do, to loot and to complete, the game itself it's a challenge
DS3= mediocre combat due to souls like system, no lootsystem, no good combos, weps are meh and boring, no good skills, no good story, and it's pretty boring tbh, I'm a fan of Darksiders and I loved 1 and 2 but 3 just was like a kick on my balls, I'm so disappointed but well, judge it by yourself
Darksiders 3 has the crucible (arena) where you can fight to gain tokens. Then you use said tokens to purchase upgrades, special types of armor and glyphs.
The only problem I had with Darksiders 3 was its length. It's very anemic compared to the other two.
As for combat, if you practice with the hollow system, you can pull off some pretty impressive combos. I'm going to guess most people think DS3 is average in that regard because they suck at it.
If you want games that have trash RNG loot systems, play Diablo, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile or anything like that.
If you aren't sure about it, then buy it when it's on sale. It's worth it, imo.
You literally giving some bad/wrong info about certain things such as combat and loot.
Loot system = grinding the game, which is basically what MMO games are and also the ones you mentioned above, which are btw top games
When most people say the combos are mediocre, because it is, even if you practice as you say, it is simple form of combos that require no longer than 5mins to figure out.
On top of that, the game was pretty easy even on its first release before it got few updates later, at that time it had less forgiving combat, harder dodge, and healing needed to be timed as it wasn't instantly used.
That trash rng loot system, is what loot system people talk about, i guess in that case you think Borderlands games suck too, since they have over million/billions of drop possibilities.
Yeah, borderlands is pretty much trash, imo. The loot system isn't the biggest problem with Borderlands. The game is so damn repetitive. I'd rather gouge my eyes out with an icepick.
Also, where did I say Diablo, Grim Dawn, etc were bad games? I didn't. Stop projecting. I was only addressing their loot systems. If the game is good enough, I can look past the loot system. Grim Dawn is an awesome game. Borderland is not. Darksiders 2 isn't bad, but it is mediocre and its loot system makes it that much worse.
Hollow system can be swapped on the fly - mid combo. Also, certain weapons perform far better on specific enemies.
As for Darksiders 2, if it was that successful, the loot system would have been carried over. It wasn't. When the average gamer thinks of Darksiders, they think games like God of War or similar with upgrade path progression and not MMO trash grind. Darksiders 3 somewhat scratches that itch with the arena system. You can various armor sets you can get, glyphs (perks) and other items.
Did you even play Darksiders 3? Sounds like you haven't.
So you're not getting anything near GoW4.
It could maybe still have been recommended as a hack and slash you can try getting on sale but then the problem is that the combat is a make or break. Everyone agrees it's a departure from the previous games. Now some people like it, others (myself included) think it's not very good even with the 'classic' mode they patched in. This game is far less puzzle focused and more combat focused than the previous two games, so combat is what you'll be doing the most of the time and if that doesn't work for you... eish.
Combat is fairly difficult as far as reflexive action goes, even for a dark souls veteran, its a decent challenge and it fun. I'd still recommend classic mode if you want good reflexive combat, the other one is just sluggish.
As for character development...yes, surprisingly. I won't say anything more, except that its rather gradual.
As for comparisons to god of war...darksiders IS god of war, but with christian mythology instead of greek. Heck, it even has almost identical aesthetic style in many regards.
