Is it possible to befriend the Ice Demons?
So I found ice island for the first time last night and went right up to their village, only to be presented with a level 8 spirit challenge. I'm like okay, 8 is a little rough, but maybe I have to prove myself to get a chance to befriend them, like with goblin isle. But when I win the village is destroyed! D:

So I try to befriend the roving ones instead. And nope, they die too.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe it may be possible in the future? I was looking around in the event editor and from what I can remember there was an option to greet them as allies when visiting their village.

No idea what the requirements for this greeting are. There are also other villages in the event editor that I haven't seen in-game yet which is why I'm guessing the befriend option hasn't been implemented (I could be wrong though). Don't want to spoil anything but have a look in there if you're interested.

Did you have a demon in your party? They have some unexpected interactions. As do beasts.

I have two demons, a Vily and the tornado, but no beasts.

Sorry to necro this, but I just tried again with an Ice Demon in my party and still no good. I have a feeling that it's just not implemented/enabled yet.

I've been playing a game for a while now, at turn 960. I can't remember all of my quest decisions. But now when I visit the Ice Demon island, I've attacked (with spirit) the wandering Ice Demon groups. When I defeat them using spirit, the faction becomes friendlier, by 2 every encounter. And they kept respawning from the Ice Demon village so I just farmed them until my faction level was at 50, and that started a new dialogue option for trading. So far they only accept children, some clay, or pristine matter but they offer a variety of jewelry. I'll try raising the faction further and see what happens.

seems so. was able to trade with them after defeating them using spirit and having a ice demon from the dwarf main story quest (abandoning it).

I'm pretty sure nothing more is here yet, so don't invest too much effort in this. I think it will be improved in future updates.
Sorry to Necro, but I just found a way. (Literally a minute ago while reading this thread)

When you are "on the path of dealing with the earth shakes" (to avoid spoilers) and talk to the dwarves, they will send you to Dzied Moroz - leader of the Ice Demons.
While trying to figure out a way to be friendly with Ice Demons I roamed their continent looking for anything and I've triggered an event - Dried Moroz came to meet me. You have a conversation with him. He explains the hard choice he has to make and, if you "Think the path is too cruel", he is touched. He sends one of his granddaughters Snezhinka to travel with you and says that "You will be a friend forever", giving you 60 points of faction reputation.

So my best advice is not to go to Ice Demons until you are sent there.
Hope this helps folks.

If I remember right, if someone in your group has the magic user tag then you can do spirit challenges against their wandering armies. Winning will give friendliness points.
